Verify your ribbon cable didn't come unhooked when you set the new screen in, also make sure the inverter is hooked up properly.

SOURCE: Black screen!

lets check a couple of things. I'm sure you know that a laptop can be hooked up to a external monitor or projector, There is a button usually F5 Or close to it that will turn your monitor off and send it to the external one. In some models of toshiba this will stay in effect even when you turn it off. You can toggle this setting by holding the FN key down and pressing the appropriate "f" key. try this first before you chuck it. There also may be a problem in the bios. Let me know how it turns out. Take care..Be mucho blessed... Mark

SOURCE: sony vaio laptop screen is black

This means that your bulb is not working any more. It can be replaced, and the bulb itself will only cost around 20$. It could be the bulb which is brocken, but at the same time it could be the inverter. which is a bit more pricy, but is a simple fix.
I would go for a new bulb first. You will have to completely dismantle the LCD to replace it. Recommend seeing technician.

good luck

SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop screen will not work.

If you hear the hard drive spinning and you think Windows is working but you can't see an image then :-
You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp or simply the video cable needs reseating. After reseating the video cable and the problem is still there then :-
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:

  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display or appear black.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

My sony pcg-71912L screen got cracked so I ordered a new one. My nephew put it on for me but no backlight. He said he could find no place to plug it into. I have hooked it to an external monitor and i

I believe you have an LED screen which does not require a CCFL bulb to enable the backlight - the reason it doesn't have a place to plug in. Make sure you have ordered the correct screen. Verify exactly which type of screen you need by checking with Sony.

I want to connect my desktop to my laptop

It doesn't work that way. You can't hook a desktop up to a laptops screen. You can hook your laptop up to a tv however for a bigger display, but that isn't what you need.

Compaq Presario CQ50-110US 15-inch Laptop dropped will boot but no video

Your laptop may have a combination of problems. Since the laptop was dropped, it is possible that your may a motherboard that no longer outputs video through the video controller, or the screen may have been damaged internally. Try hooking up an external monitor through the vga output of your laptop, usually located on the side or back of the laptop. If the external monitor works, then most likely it is your screen that's bad, if the external monitor doesn't works, then most likely it is your motherboard that's bad.

Let me know if this helps.

Gateway monitor 2100 won't turn screen on, blue lite is on as if monitor is. but screen is not on. can it be fuse or what ? is not v-card

It sounds like the lamp for your monitor is no longer receiving power. While you can attempt to fix this issue yourself I wouldn't recommend doing so as it doesn't mean it will work after you attempt it.
If the monitor is under warranty still then you should contact the manufacturer about a RMA. If the monitor isn't under warranty then you should purchase a new monitor.

I turned on my labtop after repalcing the power inverter and the screen is still dark

Hi brylindo.
Try hooking your laptop to an external monitor...if the picture comes on then it is an lcd screen problem...if it doesn't come on then re-down load your drivers and see if that solves the problem...if it still doesn't work then you may have a problem with the laptop electronics.

On add and remove I accidently removed something and now my monitor doesn't work. I can hear it. I just can't remeber what I removed. There is so much in there I was trying to get some of it off....

1st things 1st. when you turn on your laptop at first boot do you see any boot up screen at all or is it completely black? if you still have a black screen ,try hooking up your laptop to your desktop monitor. if it works fine ,then your laptop screen back light or inverter went bad
