I moved my printer from my office to my home office. In my work office I was hooked to the entire (network) system. I used 1 cord to plug into the wall where my lap top was plugged into as well. I could operate my HP 2605 printer from there. When I brought it home I plugged the same cord straight from the printer to my lap top and tried to print and the computer says that it can't find the printer. The cord I am using has a snap on end like what a phone cord would have. Is there suppose to be another cord and what can I do to start printing?
When connected to a network you use "straight cables (cat 5 or 6 )". To go directly to a printer from your computer with no routers, switchs, or networking you use a "cross-over cable". Be sure your computer and printer are still on the same IP-address scheme. If your on auto IP, or DHCP it might have changed. Hope this helps
Your using an Ethernet cable and your not on a network. You most likely need a USB cable, or connect the computer and printer together with a router. How are you accessing the internet from home?
