My dryer never shut off for 7 hours now it runs but dsnt heat up

try running a load of clothes with the vent pipe disconnected if they dry in the normal time it is your venting clogged

You have a clogged vent , or kinked vent hose , or the hose to the outside ( possibly in the wall ) , is clogged with lint . A dryer , either heats , or doesn't heat . The venting , is what causes the excess timing , for the clothes to dry .

Your timer motor is bad.

Pay particular attention to the section that discusses proper dryer ventilation. The fact that you don't see any lint collection in the lint trap could be a symptom of a dryer that is clogged, or an exhaust vent clog. An easy way of determing whether or not the problem is with the dryer, or the ventilation, is to remove the exhaust vent line from the back of the dryer and attempt to dry a load as normal. The air flow coming from the back of the dryer should be forceful and warm (about 140 degrees). If this is the case, the problem is NOT the dryer and may be attributed to something in the ventilation ducting from where it leaves your dryer to where it exits your home. An inspection of the vent ducting should be done to confirm it is clear and free of clogs or kinks.

If the air flow is weak, then you have a clog INSIDE your dryer. An inspection of the dryer blower fan housing should be done to ensure the fan is turning unobstructed and there are no clogs. If the air is cool, you probably have a failed component in the heating circuits.

Hi, If the dryer heats but will not advance in either time or auto cycles, you need to change the timer.
You can test to see if the timer is getting voltage. Remove the top rear panel and locate the two wires going to the timer motor. There should be 120V when the dryer is running in time dry.

TRY DISCONNECTING THE START BUTTON WIRES AND SEE WHAT IT DOSE WITH THE DOOR CLOSED,IF IT DOES NOT START IT YOUR START SWITCH-MIKE

Sounds like the timer may have failed if the dryer continues to run for hours and hours. And this may be what keeps the heating elemnts from coming on.

If your unit has a fuse, check it. Look in the instruction manual, which you kept with your warrenty, right? :-) No luck?

Unless you really feel comfortable taking apart a dryer, there really is'nt much else you can do. Most likely a heating element has burnt through assuming you're running on electricity. If gas, check that your supply is not interupted. Unfortunately, more than likely, it's time to call the repairman.

I assume that all knobs feel normal when you turn them and nobody has been fiddling with them.
