Battery not charging, keyboard malfunction & screeching fan sound

Hi there,

My almost 3 year old Acer Aspire 1694 WMLi (DDR2) has gone mad and is about to make me follow it...

Six Months ago I ran a 3d game on it, as I just happen to do from time to time, and didnt realize that the fan stopped working, I eventually discovered it didnt by almost burning the tips of my fingers to the damn thing.

I turned it off and let it ool down, the next morning the symtoms were apparent:

-Battery not charging,
-fan making a screeching noise and worst of all
-the keyboard is randomly "swallowing" keys when i type making work a real pleasure.

and now the strange part, 3 months ago, out of the blue everything worked properly again.. ...

Joy oh joy, but as you might have guessed a week ago the symtoms returned...

I'd greatly appreciate any insightyou could give me to this problem

Thx in advance

Its easy to clean fan and will be silent again like sleeping baby. Open 3 screws take black panel covering fan off. Than open 4 small screws and carefully clean it. There should be loads off dust.

If your Fan Failed it might have overheated your Laptop and CPU to the point where it damages it and that would explain your symptoms well. That fan is worrying since it may have melted and not working properly. Get it looked at as it may now need a CPU and/Or Motherboard replacement or hopefully just a new fan but it needs physical fixing none the less

Hope this helps

Computer been pluged in for hour and willnt charge over half way what do i do?

The battery or the charger may be malfunctioning. Please verify that the computer recognizes that the power cord is plugged into the computer. There should be a plug icon over the battery in your lower right hand corner. If it doesn't show the plug icon, and the battery is draining your charger is likely bad. Otherwise your battery is more than likely going. If your model is several years old, I'm afraid to say that after constant (or even semi-constant) use the battery will die after 2-3 years and need to either be replaced or used less frequently.

Aspire one netbook 3 cell battery 8 months old only will charge to 80%

Hello,

Contact Acer and they will replace it free providing you can produce a proof of purchase less than one year old. Those netbooks have one year parts and labour warranty on them and Acer is very good about replacements like this.It shouldn't be a problem.

Hope this helps!

Hi there, I was wondering why does my laptop battery stays charge on the same percentage rate on my Acer Aspire 5738G? Thanks Regards, Mark

Ifthe laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall. ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time.If the battery drops to an unacceptable chargelevel then the battery needs to be replaced.

Help on extending the battery life of my acer aspire one!

The only solution is a new battery.

Non working scroll control on acer aspire 5102 wmli

How long have you owned the notebook? This sounds hardware related. If so then the touch pad would have to be replaced.
Thanks,

Power lights come on the fan spins battery charges, but nothing else works

This sounds very much like a dead motherboard. I would suggest you get a professional to look at this or send it to acer. Visit thier site if you wish to. I would offer more help however laptop parts are expensive and tedious to replace.

Laptop Mousepad and Keyboard stuttering, slow

This may be a battery power monitor issue. Try disabling the "Mircosoft ACPI- Compliant Control Method Battery" device. This is located in Control Panel-->System-->Hardware Tab-->Device Manager-->Batteries. Had similar problem with 2 Acer Aspire series laptops (diff models). 2 and 3 year old. Original batteries (both still hold charges for 1.5 hrs of normal usage). Running WinXP, one with SP2 and other had SP3. Both came in the last month with slow jerky TPAD function and nearly non responsive keyboard access. Checked the usual; virus, spyware, hijacking, driver conflict etc. Cloned drive and factory installed..still same problem with kb & mouse. However an external USB keyboard and mouse functioned normally (no lag). Noticed with Battery removed kb & mouse was normal. Finally found disabling ACPI control battery device resolved this issue while allowing laptop to run on either battery or AC.

Acer Aspire 3004 keyboard and touchpad error

Just resolved same problem on Acer Aspire 5000 by removing the battery, then goto device manager and disable "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" you can then put your existing battery back into the latop with any problems with the keyboard and touchpad. Mad solution I know but it worked for me
