I have a Power Max phone with two extensions.  I'm having trouble retrieving messages when I'm away from home. I can't find my instruction manual. I think this is operator error.  How do I collect messages when I'm away from home?    Thanks.

I found the answer to my question on line. I dislike paying for information that should be available to me at no cost. I will instruct my tech person not to purchase your equipment any longer.

My message light is lit up, but when I press the button, the phone calls an extension instead. how do I retrieve my message and stop the transfer to another extension ?

Read the instructions that came with the cordless phone system or google the model number for an instruction manual.

Normally these phones just call your landline number and you input your code and the # character.

Perhaps you've already coded in the extension number on an arcane menu with the phone.

In which case it's back to the instruction manual!

Retrieving messages away from home.

Hello,

When you are away, you call your number and waiting for the welcome message (your message). When the machine invites you to leave a message you enter your secret code, the one you entered when you configured the machine. (Usually there is default, but since you don't have a manual there is no point guessing (although 123 may do the trick). Some older phones have a code sticker on the underside of phone.)

When the code is recognized the machine starts giving instructions press (number) to (do something).

Hope it helps.

How do I retrieve my voice mail when I'm away from home?

Go to the base unit.
scroll to the answering machine option.
Under there is a setting for your security key.

you can read what's there, or change it to your own two digit code.

when you call in, during the message, enter that two digit code and it'll go into messages. There's a "toll saver" mode so that the machine answers after two rings instead of 4, so that if you call and it rings 3 times, you know there's no new messages.
