Screen spot I have had this TV for a couple of years and recently noticed a small black spot on the screen. It is very small - only 5 or 6 pixels, but it is right in the centre about 1/3 of the way down - right where people's faces, etc. are positioned. Anyway, the spot is not on the outside of the protective screen and actually seems to be projected there. How can I figure out if this is a spot/dust on the mirror or something else? I can't say I am terribly technically inclined... Any help appreciated.

    Thanks Leadtech.

Is this something that is relatively easy to check or should I be calling a service person?

Since you have a black spot, you need to look at the mirror or inside screen. If it were a certain color, like purple or yellow, for instance, I would suggest a lens or picture tube, but, since it is black in one spot, I would suspect debris in those areas.

Please change the T-CON board, if it did not fix the problem, you may have a defective LCD Panel.

White spot on screen

Sounds like you are describing stuck/dead pixel.

There is no fix, it is a Pixel gone out in display panel, good chance it is just stuck and will right itself but sadly sometimes they dont and the only fix is to replace the entire display panel
Manufactures warrant such defects different depending on amount of dead pixels on screen is considered faulty, ie 3 pixels grouped or 5 separate ones .

My tv screen has a black spot

HI,
Are you sure that there is balck dot on the sreen. Check one more time is it any dust on the screen.
Black spot Means pixel of the Lcd sreen is fault. There are thousands of pixels in an lcd screen. when any of the pixel or a group of pixels become faulty the black spot will appear. Its not possile to rectify the problem other than replacing the LCD panle if its avilable. The avilability of lcd screen is very rare.

GREY SPOTS ON BACK OF SCREEN NOTICEABLE WITH WHITE

Hi if your tv is a dlp it might be an issue with the DMD board Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!

On my toshoba pc 17'' sreen I have black spot on the top corner and the bottom of my screen , is my screen diying oley one year old

There are two types of black spots. The first, I call bruising. This is a dark area on the screen that can vary in size and still allows for proper viewing. The second is a black dot. If it is a black dot about the size of the period in this sentence, it is a dead pixel. Most manufacturers allow for up to 5 dead pixels before they will treat it as a problem. In either case, dead pixels and bruising are more of an annoyance than anything. I have seen screens with both issues work for up to 5 years under these conditions. They will eventually fail but how long it takes it to fail, is anyone's guess. There are numerous outlets for new or used screens. If you plan on keeping this for a while, I would recommend contacting the manufacturer to see if they will do anything or pick up another screen and have it on hand to replace it if it should fail.

how big are the black spots? are they pixel size? i have one black spot too but its called a "dead pixel" when ya buy laptops these days, sometimes...they will have a dead pixel gaurentee for like 25 dollars, but i didnt choose that so now im stuck with one annoying dead pixel on my 5 thousand dollar laptop but im fine with it i guess. when my screen gets bad, im rich enough to just replace the whole screen anyway. dead pixels cant be fixed i dont think just replaced by the whole screen.

How do i fix or get rid of a green spot and a couple of purple spots on the tv screen?

Does your model end with a "5" as in PTnnLCX65? If so call the Panasonic call center to schedule service or find a servicer, they have a fix for colored spots on the 2005 MMDs ending with the number 5. The fix is being coverd under warranty.

Big grey/black spot

Is it a fuzzy spot or an actual hard edged black spot?LCD televisions can have a loss of pixel display- most very small. Was the TV hit with something or dropped against something (the screen)?

OR Try this first:
Black box appears on the screen
• Closed-captioning might be on. Check the Analog or Digital Caption option in the Setup menu.

Please let me know if your problem is solved. Thank You.
