Check your Brushes  or bushings or whatever there called ) those little black things on the side of your mixer above the speed selector and the up/down switch) Check to see if they have started to wear down then i recommend taking it in for service. Good Luck!

SOURCE: kitchenaid 625 watt 6 quart mixer. Was using it

HAMILTONCOOL - It appears that your mixer had a mechanical failure in the transmission box or planetary gear assembly of your mixer failure - one of the main gears has failed, hence the loss of power to the agitator. You didn't mention any associated noise prior to the loss of power to your agitator, but I'm assuming there was just a little more noise than usual, prior to failure.
The inspection and troubleshooting of the transmission is a DITY capability, particularly if your mixer is out of warranty. Just be sure to have the correct Part List manual around when you start to disassemble your mixer. If you're lacking one, you can download it from the KA website. Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals & Guides> Enter the 6 character model number, and then select Parts List file. You can check the page titled 'Case, Gearing & Planetary Unit, for the disassembly, troubleshooting, and reassembly of your mixer, along with all the parts. It can be messy but gratifying. Once apart you can check for any other unseemly wear and tear on the gears, etc. Good hunting... I hope this helps - Howard, Burke, VA

SOURCE: KitchenAid Mixer Squeaking

I would first get some canned air. Spray out the area around the Shaft. This is to make sure no harden food is up there. After that is clean spray some cooking spray "PAM"in the Shaft area. This should help. Good Luck

Kitchenaid stand mixer ksm90wswh how to install motor brushes/spring. Took out by mistake. Is there a only one way to put them back in?

Hi GOTWEIMS. Yes there is only one way to reinstall your brushes and that is so they both seat correctly on the armature's commutator or you won’t get any ‘juice’ to the motor. See the illustration below:
815b35c.jpg

If you've turned a brush 90 degrees too much, it won’t seat properly and you’ll get no power to the motor.
It would also be helpful to have the Parts List manual on hand. If you're lacking one, you can download a PDF version from the KA website at: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home.
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals & Guides> then enter the visitor type “Consumer” and the 6 character model number, in your case use KSM90P, in the Model Number box. Select one the files listed for your model that appears under Parts List (16): KSM90PSWH0.pdf (354.08 KB) and save that file to your PC (check to see it this matches your mixer model).
Turn to pages 6 & 7, titled “Motor And Control Parts”, which provides an exploded view for the disassembly and reassembly of your mixer’s electrical components, along with all the parts. Locate Illus No 32, Brush holder that includes #18, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 31 which is the brush holder and brush & Spring assembly respectively. This illustration along with my initial reply regarding the orientation of the brushes should allow you to reinstall your brushes with confidence. Good luck, I hope this helps. Howard, Burke, VA

Hi. These mixers normaly make a lot of noise when in operation. Go to the shop that sold it to you, or any place that has these units on display and ask them to turn on the mixer for a demonstration.
