Hi I have a geberit cistern 222.013.00.1 with hissing noises and tank keeps topping up occasionally

wait for the new washer/ valve to settle in
or turn down the inlet water tap a bit

what does this really mean
tank topping up with water and re filling occasionally

in the wrong way or too tight or the wrong part ?

Venting

That is almost certainly what is happening. I have never needed to vent these into soil stacks, as I have never had a complaint of an odor. There's simply no reason to do it...I would dis-connect it from stack and allow to vent as it was intended. DW

Kohler toilet leave black streaks and small black particles coming out of water holes under toilet bowl rim.

#K4421 Re black specks coming from rim jets (only). Me too. Looks like bits of rotting rubber. Water in tank is clear-no specks there. I suspect the small hose from fill valve to top of flush piston may be breaking down, as it has gone rigid and I'm afraid to squeeze it lest it shatter. First thing I'll try is replacing that hose, if I can find one.
My daughter has same toilet but no "specks". With her toilet, it's the same small hose but the problem is it occasionally pops off at fill valve end. I can fix that with wire but when I find hose source, I'll buy two.

American standard caded 3 leaking water from tank into toilet and occasionally running every 5 minutes. is this a flapper problem (it seems well seated) or could it be leaking elswhere?

It could be a bad seat around the flapper or the flapper itself. Replace flapper with one designed for the Cadet. Check water level and see it doesn't flow above the overflow tube. if it is above the tube lower the float ball by turning the screw at top of ball.

OCCASIONALLY HEAR SMALL LEAK COMING FROM BOTTOM OF TOILET...WATER BILL UNUSUALLY HIGH...(FAINT HISSING SOUND)

either the fill valve is running and water is draining into the bowl via the overflow tube in the tank or the flapper is bad (or foreign matter) and it is allowing water to escape into the bowl through the flush valve slowly...causing the tank to drain and the fill valve to run every few minutes or so. start by inspecting/cleaning or replacing the flapper and hopefully that will do it because a one piece toilet flush valve needs a special wrench,to remove it, that you use with a ratchet. If you buy a new flush valve, it comes with the wrench (glorified piece of plastic) and is not too difficult to get the flush valve out. you can get a replacement at http://www.plumbingpartsdepot.com/ They do mail order, too. All you need is the toilet type - a four digit number embossed in the tank starting with a 2. hope this helps but if you need anything else just ask:)

2 new toilets installed. customer complaint of occasional clogs. no apparent problem although i feel the flush valve closes very fast. any changes or adjustments for this

Hi,
Often I change the flapper to get the toilet flapper to stay up longer, giving a longer flush....
Check for a generic flapper that wiill work with the toilets you installed...

High pitch shrill when flushing

I had the same thing happen to my toilet. The quickest way to resolve the issue is to replace the fill valve.

I have a flushmate that is about 3 yrs old and occasionally, after a flush the water will continue to run.

the float-plunger may get stuck or there is something small in the wtaer tanks that gets lodged every so often
