You will need to get a hold of att. They will need to have you unplug the 2wire and then reconnect. They will need to reset the gateway from their end. good Luck.

Red power light, green wireless light, no internet access. Have done the reset and the power off. Nothing works.

I had the same problem on the Gateway 2701HG-B supplied from ATT. From searching the web, I learned these variety of modems apparently have an expiration date on the power cord at abotu 18 mos to 2 years. Mine is almost exactly at 2 yrs.

I replaced the power cord and now it works fine. You can order the OEM replacement from att e-store or try Radio Shack for a universal cord.

My 2-wire 2701HG modem has a solid red power light and is not functioning. ATT says it is bad and out of warranty "sorry". Any other reasons for this condition?

RED power light indicates that the modem has gone bad.
Try with a different power cable and power adapter
Try with a different power source
Try to hard reset the router
NOTE: Have all details provided by your ISP before trying this step

If all the above mentioned steps doesn't work please replace it

With the unit powered on perform hard reset back to factory settings. Use a paper clip to push the reset button on the back panel of the modem. Hold down for five to 10 seconds. Release when the power light goes red

I hv 2 wire modem bought from my friend, I don't know how to reset user ID and password in this modem

you can try resetting the modem by picking a small pin and pocking in behund the modem which states "reset"
Or if you can access the gateway you can reset it from there.
to access gateway in case type in your browser -- > http://gateway.2wire.net/mdc - <-- you will be prompted to enter password . The default password is 2wire . Once you entered in , scroll down to Troubleshooting which will be on your left
, search for resets <--- Click on it, it will direct you to a page where you can reboot system and stuffs.. Click on the button RESET beside factory defaults. Your modem will be reset to factory default, your power light will change orange and be normal back for about 10 secs ... When everything has come back to normal, you can then continue to enter your user id and password to log in internet.Or alternatively u can Go to http://gateway.2wire.net/setup <--- and configure your modem from there with a step by step guide :)

THANKS
