I have a Zenith B27B40Z television I am trying to hook a dvd player to and it does not work. I have hooked the yellow connector from the dvd to the yellow outlet on the tv and the same for the red and white, but when i hit play on the dvd nothing happens. I do have the tv on Direct tv.
Have you changed the TV input to AUX? If there is a VCR hooked up with your satellite box it has to be on Line or Aux too. Make sure these are in place before trying the DVD player

I have got a Finlux plasma television and i cant find my instructions. I have just been given a play station 2 and i have put it all correct in my television but its not coming up on my screen. I dont know what channel to put it on, please can you help me!?
you don't need a code for the vcr/dvd combo to work on your tv. You need to make sure you have hooked up the cables correctly. remember that the dvd can be hooked up with the component cabels and the vhs may need to be hooked up thru the tv cable hookup.
as you say that it is old tv so there is a possibility that there may not be audio video socket where dcd player can be connected.
OR
You will have to purchase one video RF converter.RF converter contains one video input in yellow color & two audio input in red & white colour & one cable connector as output.
Connect the dvd output to this converter & tune tv program in which place you receive dvd signal.
You need to make sure that the AV cables are connected correctly Red/White/Yellow the yellow cable is for the picture and the other two are for the audio. if the cables are well connected try a different set of cables. Try that if nothing works let us know.
You can find the owner's manual for this set online at:
http://www.zenithservice.com/gcsc/b2c/hpi/main?tc=owm.command.OwmCmd
It says that the BOTTOM four connectors are:
1. S-Video IN
2. Video IN
3. Audio (Right) IN
4. Audio (Left) IN
Above the Audio IN connectors are two audio OUT connectors, which you could hook to external speakers, your stereo, etc. But these are not needed for hooking up your DVD player.
From your DVD player, you need to hook up either the S-Video or Video connection (Video is typically the Yellow wire), plus the Audio connections (Red and White). If your DVD player has an S-Video output, this will give you a better picture than the standard Video connection. S-Video cables have a different plug, with four or five wires in the connector, and are keyed so they only fit into the socket in one orientation. Be careful to line it up properly and not force it in the wrong way.

Assuming you have picture on the TV when hooked up to cable, antenna or satellite I would take the DVD player to a friends house to see if it worked on their set (using your cables of course). If you can't get a picture on your TV no matter what, then it could be either the Jungle IC or EEPROM IC inside the set. Since it displays "No Video Signal" on the screen, that leaves out the High Voltage section of the TV. My main suspicion would be the video cable or settings on the DVD or TV.
