SOURCE: my aqualink RS4 display is saying water sensor
The water sensor is just a thermometer. It is screwed into the pipe somewhere. It should be easy to spot as it is held on with a hose clamp. If the sensor is bad it will need to be replaced or you will not be able to use the heater. If you follow the wires all the way back to the control panel (up to where it screws into the board) you may find a break in it, which you will need to repair. The water sensor is just a resistor, so there is nothing special about the wiring - except it should be waterproof. If you cant find a break in it I would try to switch the air and water sensors. These should be connected on the control panel right next to each other, and are exactly the same. If this solves your problem then you have a bad sensor. With the bad sensor i would try to cut the wires about 3-4 inches from the probe and run new wire to see if there is a break in the wire that was not visible. Hope this helps.
