turn TT upside down, unscrew bottom cover.you will see two variabile resistors( electronic part, you can insert little screwdriver inside).one is for 33, and other for 45 rpm. look at the strobe light and turn resistor with little screwdriver until dots on your strobe are still.have ht-355 and had the same problem. good luck

Direct Drive turntable's have electronically controlled motors with complicated systems to keep them at the right speed.
My guess is that there could be a power supply issue that feeds one of the motors that is sending a much higher voltage to it. But that's just a guess. You might want to look around for the service manual for it to see how the motor is controlled.

SOURCE: direct drive turntable will not rotate

If it does not rotate, more than likely the belt has either come off, or is broken. Lift up the turntable platter, and you'll see what the issue could be. The platter just lifts right up.

SOURCE: Sony PS-LX250H turntable speed adjustment on underside, how??

Great detective work.

Let's collaborate on this for the benefit of others who may have the same problem.

L.IN should be the point at which the Lead-In groove on the LP would be, where the tonearm will drop to play an LP
RET should be the point at which the tonearm will lift up and RETurn to its rest at the end of the LP

That leaves us with SW. If your source is right this will affect the Speed. I can't imagine what the W stands for.

Since this turntable lacks the traditional strobe light and dots along the platter rim for determining if it's on target speed-wise we have to improvise and make a Strobe Disc.

It has radial marks on it and you place it on the turntable like a record. The lights in your room running at 60hz will make it appear to be stationary if the speed is correct; slowly creeping CW if too fast; CCW if too slow.

Here's a link to a PDF from which you can print your own disc... http://www.extremephono.com/ftp/60Hz.PDF

Here's what you do. Lay the trimmed Strobe Disc on top of a record while it's playing one of the outer tracks. This is because the stylus imparts some drag so we want to factor it in.

Then adjust the screw exactly one turn Clockwise and note how the speed has changed. Trial and error should get you to where you want to be.

Im looking for cartidge for turntable hitachi HT - 354 . Where i can find . Thanks

You can use any cartridge that you want. It's just a question of getting it fixed to the arm. But many have universal fitings or adaptions. It's just a question of want you want to spend on the cartridge. Generally the more money the better the sound.

My turntable dont have a belt and is spining to fast on 33/45 can you please help me.

It's a direct drive turntable. That means the platter is actually mounted directly to the motor spindle, and electronics control the speed of the motor -- no belt needed. Most likely the electronic speed regulator has failed or is out of adjustment. Take it to a repair shop and get an estimate on how much it will cost to fix it. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new one than it is to repair an old one.

I think you mean 45 rpm?
It sounds like you have got the belt in the wrong position. Try adjusting the position of the belt by experiment. Or you could look up the correct way to set up the belt.

How to adjust the speed using the lights.

When the turntable spins the light shines on the edge. You will see at least two indications. One for 45 and one for 33. With the record playing you should adjust the speed control, till one of the indents appears static and not moving. You will have to do this for both speeds. You also might see some varations in speed. These are quite normal and getting it right is trial and error. It will only read true when the stylus is on the record too. If you can't get the indication to stay still then there is something wrong with the drive.

Turntable spinning backwards

If it is a direct drive TT then it uses some electronic circuitry to control speed and it sounds like that circuit is having a problem. Possibly the actual driver IC for the TT motor has gone bad. Good luck.
