Hi there,

Your DC24 is equipped with a sensor which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it. You can reset the machine by following the steps shown in the video below. You may also want to refer to our online Support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/my-brushbar-is-not-rotating/stabiliser-check

SOURCE: Dyson 18 slim the rotating brush bar will not

If the DC18 has a proteted belt then it will have to be replaced by a Dyson engineer or repairer. If the cleaner has a removable sole plate where the beater bar is then remove it and replace the belt - sounds like the belt has snapped and needs to be replaced. if your DC18 is still relatively new it should still be under guarantee.

SOURCE: no suction on dyson dc24 ball

Well i just fixed my Dyson Ball with the same problem you have. My wife and i found out it was a crumpled receipt in the lower section of the hose at the upright/handheld pivot #3 in diagram and it was catching cat hair and other things. I began by removing the canister and turned on the vacuum to see if the direct access to the fan had suction. Then i moved to #5; i reattached the canister and threw in some cat hair into it from the bottom. i turned on the vaccum to see if it spinned around; it didnt. I then moved to #4, i removed the head and then turned on the vaccum to see if maybe the head had a leak at the top connecter; as i predicted the strength was minimal. I then worked my way to #1 to see if the strength was the same or if there was a difference. no difference for us. Well then it must be #3.. of course the last one i checked. I used a small flashlight and peared in and i didnt see anything... i then used a coathanger very softly as to not puncture the hose. i then noticed some hair being pushed out but the main culprit wasnt showing. my wife gave me needle nose pliers and i pried the hose off of the top connection in #3; so i could get a better look; you may be able to push it off with your hands. and viola! a crumpled reciept for 3 Monster energy drinks.... the same ones....i drink... oops!... hopes this helps. just go through it step by step. youll know its working once stuff begins to spin in the canister. almost regretted throwing that dyson registry junk away.

SOURCE: kickstand on dyson dc24 will not stand up

Solution to Dyson Ball wil Not stand up / Kickstand will not go down:

I had this problem on my Ball. The metal guides on the red foot lever had jumped out of their tracks and you have to get them back into the guide tracks on the rear wheel assemblies. I pulled on the affected wheel assembly to get the metal post on the red kickstand to reset it where it should be.

SOURCE: Dyson DC 25 Dyson Ball animal. The bottom brush

Two things you can do. 1- Remove the brush as if you were going to change the drive belt for it. Clean the brush as best you can and spray some WD40 on the hard rubber/plastic pieces at both ends of the brush. Rotate the pieces to work the WD40 into the space between the pieces and the brush axle. 2- If you have one available, as long as the brush is off, change the belt.
This should get your unit back in operation. If you find this solution helpful, I would appreciate a Thumbs Up from you. Thank you. Paul

My dyson dc24

Hi there Shane, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC24's brush bar will shut off if something jams it - for example, a rug fringe or a shoelace. Once you've checked the cleaner head for any obstructions, you should be able to reset it. To do this, please follow the steps shown in the video.

It may help to push the red reset button with the eraser end of a pencil or something similar. You should feel a click as you push it in.

The brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so please make sure you recline it into the vacuuming position before testing it.

If you do need further help after trying this, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Brush does not rotate when switch is on

Hi, mine did the same thing last week. I took off the end cap that holds the brush in place, and noticed inside the cap a piece was broken. Got a new end cap from Dyson, and it works fine now. Also, roller will not work in the upright position. You should recline the handle, then turn the vacuum on and make sure the brush switch is on. Hope that helps.

I was running my vac when it caught the fringe on a throw. I turned it off and carefully pulled it out but now I don't have any suction and it's not cleaning the carpet.

Don't know the model too well but the beater bar is what goes when that happens(the brush that goes around right there on the intake of the sweeper) it has a belt that makes it turn and you probably broke the belt or burnt it up or it came off so it is the belt that is the problem. That will give you those symptoms because the beater bar (rotating brush) is what lifts the dirt up so it can be sucked in.

Is the Dyson pulling carpet fibers, not dirt ?

You need to shut the brush roll off. It is ruining your rugs, the dyson has a very aggressive roller and can hurt some types of rugs and carpets.
