The color is messed up and has sdows
If anything like the picture here it is a convergence problem--model indicated uses a single chip for this and it can be a do it yourself repair.
1. shop repair not needed--can be fixed in the home--average is around 200.
2. kits are available with instructions for around 100.
3. I have instructions for this repair (my own from doing hundreds of these sets--total parts cost averages under 30 dollars.
Getting at the parts and being able to solder is involved---the parts are all on the middle board in the set.

No two sets will look exactly the same but this is a convergence problem.

The
DM board is the one with the digital connectors on the back panel. If
you already have it appart, you may as well check the caps on all of
the boards. The caps that go bad are typically Jamicon brand caps in
1000 uF and 330 uF values. There are also a couple of 3300 uF caps in
the PS that cause problems.

My grandfather passed away and left me a WS-55711. The picture screen is amazing, but then suddenly the unit died. A service tech came to the house and after diagnosis, told me (like so many other people) I needed a new DM board.
In the past I was a amateur radio enthusiast, so I have worked on Transmitter/ Receivers. However this was a while back. If I can save money for xmas, can anybody tell me where to buy a DM board and offer the instructions how to complete the task. Do I need a service manual to understand the circuitry for this DM board.

replace the convergence ics again.sounds like you got a bad ic.realigned the green convergence geometry after reinstalling the ics.you will need to go into the techician service menu and go into the cross-hatch pattern to do the alignment.

You will find 4 swollen capacitors in the DM module of value 1000uF 16volt. Replace them.

Replace the dm power board . its inside the metal box on the left (looking at the back with the back removed). p/n 935C986002
Or if you can solder then replace the 7 electrolytic capacitors on the DM power board. value 1000uf16v
