MHC's are not all the same, so some will vent outside, while others will not. It depends on the model. Some will vent horizontally, others vertically, or both. Sears associates all know this, at least at the one I work at all 12 of us do. Most of the time, people don't know how the vent is set up at their own home, if it even is set up to vent outside. But typically MHC's just recirculate inside, unless replacing a vent hood. And good luck at Lowes, their training when I was there was lacking horribly.

"Microhood" seems to be a slang term for the "microwave hood" (hood fan or exhaust fan) which is normally part of an over-the-range microwave oven or range. But these should be available separately, as I seem to recall. I would contact home centers such as Lowe's, Home Depot (if they still exist), etc., or a local appliance store.

The vent will turn on randomly and not turn off!

Most over the range microwaves have a heat safety system built into them. If for instance you are cooking on the stove top for a long period of time on the burner directly under the micro control panel and the control panel get too hot, a thermostat in the microwave will automatically turn on the vent fan to help keep the control panel cooled off. My guess is that the safety thermostat (usually right behind the bottom of the control panel) may be going bad and needs replaced.

How do I change the front exhaust to top exhaust on a Kenmore microwave/hood

Hi,

In order to change the venting on the microhood you need to uninstall the unit and at the top of the microwave is the blower unit. Remove the cover, flip the blower and you should then see the fins on the motor, reinstall the unit under the cabinet and your good to go. I hope this helps, good luck

Have Kenmore microvave and the vent starts on its own

Actually, that's a feature! If you cook much on the range (stove) beneath the microwave, the heat will cause the microwave bottom to heat up quite a bit (just touch it!), and the microwave will turn on it's exhaust fan in an attempt to save itself from burning up. It will shut off in about 15 minutes after you turn off the source of heat.
But if the fan comes on by itself even when the microwave is cool (or at least not hot), then you probably have a defective fan thermostat. This thermostat is located behind the control console on the inside bottom of the microwave.

How far out does a microhood sit from the cabinet. My cabinets are 12 inches and the microhood I want is 16 deep. Also it will be 19 inches above my stove.

Don't know right off the top of my head, but the installation instructions should tell the min and max height from the stove. If they don't you may want to contact an electrician to find out.

My fan works on my microwave by it does not draw suction

Actually, the fan in the microwave is only there to cool down the magnetron which cooks the food. It gets very hot over a period of time and the maintains constant temperature across it. Suggest you use an extractor to remove fumes.

Turnaround glass tray problem

Sometimes they get heated up and bend up in the middle so they don't make good contact with the coupler. The way I fix this is to heat the support over a stove flame, then place a heavy weight on it so it holds the legs up in place a bit until it cools. Here it is step by step: 1. Apply heat at points where each legs meet the hub (stove flame) 2. Place end of each leg on an object so that the bottom of the hub is held up about 1/8" off the work surface. 3. Place heavy object on hub so the bottom touches the work surface. 4. Let it cool. 5. Test it. 6. If it still does not work, increase the height of objects in step two.
