You need to upgrade you ingest system. Windows Media Player(and your system card) probably can't handle the load. Try "Scenalyzer" it's economical, versatile and stable( http://scenalyzer.com/).

if this doesnt have USB interface, you need a USB Audio and Video Combo Adapter. something like this http://www.computercablestore.com/USB_Audio_and_Video_Combo_PID1600.aspx for optimum video performace, use S video connector. let me know if you have question.

any recordings made from another digital video device may not meet the same specifications to play back correctly in any other brand model unfortunately. some work and some don't
Testimonial: "Thanks for confirming that I was correct in returning the 2nd camcorder!"

Has your firewire worked with any other application? Here's a blog with some discussion about the problem, but they claim that running XP, the firewire should be detected automatically, and the drivers installed.
Here's a web blog that might help:

You require a firewire cable and an application that can capture the footqge such as Windows Movie Maker.
This is most likely caused by a damaged or misaligned video drum and can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.
My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.
