Computer not finding hardware for cd rom drive, so not responding

My cd rom always worked until one day I put in a cd and didn't do anything when I checked the device manager there was an exclamation mark on the cd rom drive, so I tried the troubleshooter and said it's not finding hardware, it might be corrupted or missing, so I bought a new cd drive and it said the same thing so I don't know what to do.
somebody help.

Why does cd rom not conned to my macbook?

I'm not sure about this, because I have an internal CD/DVD in my macbook. But this can be a driver issue. Do you have an Apple CD drive, or an universal USB CD drive? The last one could be very tricky, because the computer needs special drivers, so it can recognise the external drive.

Error code 00F0:136C IDE FAILED BLANK MEDIA OR NO MEDIA IS PRESENT IN OPTICAL DRIVE. IS THE HDD FRIED OR WHAT?

Hi,

You probably ran the 32-bit diagnostics in this Dell computer.

The error code 00F0:136C, actually is talking about the "OPTICAL DRIVE,"which is your CD/DVD ROM; not the hard drive.

That will fail since, I am assuming you didn't put anything inside the CD-ROM.

The diagnostics tests everything and in this case, it tested the CD-ROM and failed since there is no CD inside the CD/DVD-ROM.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Oliver

Computer no recognize CD-ROM Drive

If it is a "swappable" device, then first shut-down your computer. Remove the other device that currently is installed in the drive-bay. Insert the CD-ROM drive, and restart your computer, so that it can detect the "new" hardware.

I put the cd rom into the drive and nothing happens. I go to click on the icon under my computer and it causes the window not to respond.

Confirm that the CD drive is not a CD-ROM dive and the CD you are trying to open is is not a DVD. CD-ROM drive wil not open a DVD ROM and in some cases will cause the system to stop responding if youtry to run it.

Computer does not respond when installing music cd

Go to Control panel, Next click on the hardware tab. Find your CD drive listed up close to the top. Highlight the CD drive and click on uninstall. Reboot the system and the system will automatically re-install the drivers. See if that will work.

CD - ROM

If you haven't tried reinstalling the drive, this may help:
- Open the Control Panel - Open the System folder - Click on Hardware - Click on Device Manager
Locate the DVD-CD-ROM entry and expand it. Highlight your optical drive and press 'Delete'
If it argues with you, answer 'Yes' to the question of deleting the drive(s)
Reboot your computer and watch for a message box reading that a 'New Device' was found and software for it is being installed.
If it still doesn't want to cooperate, then the drive is probably 'toast' and will need to be replaced.

I went to go burn a cd and it said that i have no cd burner on my computer but i know that i do, but my computer wont even play a dvd or a game, i think i might of accidentally uninstalled my cd drive, is...

Hi

Ok First to ensure that your CD-Rom / DVD is installed correctly

Goto the control panel if you can see a whole list of icons find and click on system

otherwise find Performance and maintenance and then click on system

now up the top of this new window find and click the hardware tab

finally click on the Device Manager button , this will bring up the Device manager window

in this window look for and expand by clicking the plus Icon next to DVD/CD-ROM Drives

if you see anything in here your CD drive is installed. You will probably find that either you optical drive is either disconnected and the ribbon cable connecting it to the motherboard will need to be checked , or you have got a faulty optical drive

If you cant see anything in here go back to the control panel and find add hardware if you cant see that icon click on printers and other hardware and in the left hand side bar click on add hardware.

This will bring up a step by step wizard

after clicking next on the initial screen windows will do a scan and try and detect any hardware devices that have not been installed yet. If on the next screen you are asked "Have you connected the hardware?" please open up your PC and check the ribbon connection on the reverse of the optical drive and make sure the power connectors etc are properly seated.

If this works follow the on screen steps and installation will be straight forward.

Hopefully this will solve your problems

Cheers.

If you have any other queries please respond

Thankyou
