Does a thermostat have a battery? Mine says low battery

Hello, Nancy -

Programmable thermostats have batteries.

I hope I am correct in thinking you need to know what kind of battery you need for your thermostat and how to replace it. If so . . .

Do you have a set of printed instructions on using the thermostat tucked away somewhere? If so, go find it. The instructions should state the kind of replacement battery you need and how to go about replacing the battery/batteries.

If you add the maker of your thermostat by clicking or tapping on Comment and typing in the manufacturer name, I or someone else volunteering to answer for Fixya may be able to find the instructions for you.

You may find this YouTube video on replacing the batteries in a type of Honeywell programmable thermostat instructive:

Best wishes.

Screen on Bryant thermostat is blank---Batteries?

Heidi, all thermostats that I am familiar with require AAA, AA or nine volt batteries and are accessed usually be separating the thermostat from the sub-base. Some older stats have a 'ribbon' connector that maintains connection during removal, but most of the newer stats have 'pin' connectors. A picture would help...could you post one with a smart phone ??

On the temperature display the second symbol is permananently missing eg 20.0 is shown 2 .0 how do you fix it?

Display figures when lost generally can not be reallocated as the digital format has been compromised. The nonfunctional pixels are bypassed and only functional display is active and observable. The entire display needs to be replaced or live with what is available.

I put in new batteries; calculator turned on but I could not clear the screen nor input any thing. Now it wont turn on.

Open the back of your calculator. There is a backup battery behind a little door that you will have to remove with a small phillips screwdriver. The only thing that I can figure out is that you either need to leave this battery out for about 10 hours and put it back in and hopefully the calculator will reset itself. If not, you might try replacing this backup battery. Hope this helps.

Thermostat says lowbat.....where is the battery and what kind of battery do i need to replace? will my furnace still come on?

If you replace the battery in time, the furnace should still work. You didn't mention what type thermostat you have, but the battery is located inside the thermostat housing. Most can be accessed my opening the flip down cover of the front of the thermostat (this where you generally program it). Inside you will either see instructions for replacing the battery or you will see another small compartment door with a battery icon on it or it says "Battery". If none of that appears as stated, the batter will be behind the thermostat housing. It's generally 1 AA Battery.

Hope this helps you solve the problem.

Cant figure out how to get back of watch open to get to battery to replace it

Take your watch to your nearest watch shop and ask them to do it for you.

You can get into difficulty replacing batteries and it is not worth the risk for the small cost saving in doing it yourself.

Need to replace thermostat batteries, can't open

Figured out how to take thermostat off -- not hinged, after all, but snap-off arrangement.
Thanks anyhow.
