You can search under Repair Parts and enter your full model number JVM1650BB005 and get an exploded view diagram here: http://www.geappliances.com/shop/prts/ That diagram can be a great help. Also, I've attached below a door panel diagram from a Sharp model. Your GE disassembly may work the same way. If you haven't already taken the door off the microwave, I would recommend you don't unless you leave the hinge assembly attached to the door and remove the door from the hinges. It's critical to be sure you get (or keep) the door and hinged aligned exactly as they were to prevent leakage.
There have been several posts about this, but I failed to find any that successfully answered the question.
For this microwave, there are a total of 4 screws holding the handle on. Once you remove the inner frame you can remove two of the screws, but the remaining two are blocked by the metal door.
To access the remaining two, you have to remove the outer door frame and glass. This is accomplished by staring at the hinged side of the door. With the door open, and looking at the hinged side, you will see two clips that are part of the outer frame, and that clip over the inner metal door. Carefully pry these clips over the metal door, and keep working your way around the upper and lower sides, there are several more clips on the to and bottom sides. Once all these are released, the outer frame will come right off.
The outer frame holds the glass, so be careful not to drop it as you are trying to take it off.

1. order at http://www.a-1catalog.com/gemidohaw.html
2. Open the door to the microwave. The top screw is obvious. Take it out.
3) Use a flathead screwdriver or putty knife to remove the inner moulding. THis is the central thing you'll see -- the outside is the frame of the door and the inside is the frame of the screen/window. The MIDDLE thing is the one you want. It's is clipped onto the screen/window frame, so put the screwdriver in on the edge closer to the door frame and gently lever it out. There are a lot of clips. BE CAREFUL -- if you are unsure, take to an appliance repair shop that can properly test for leakage!!!
4. The lower screw will then be evident. Take it out and the handle... or shards of it in my case... comes off.

There're some half a dozen or so small screws securing that frame to the door face. These screws must be removed. Then, the frame can be pried out by releasing the plastic snappers (with a flat screwdriver) while in the same time gently helping the frame to detach from these snappers' hold and the door face. It's a tidious, somewhat annoying task. The snappers may and will even likely break in the process, but aren't needed for the frame to be resecured to the door face after the handle is replaced. Note that the broken ends of the handle must be held with a pair of pliers or a flat screwdriver needs to be inserted bewteen each of them and the hole, or the ends will turn with the screws. This is because the metal screws' grip of the plastic handle broken ends is very strong and otherwise won't get separated.Once the above is accomplished, reassembling the door is a brease.
P.S.: The dual end latch may interfere somewhat with the job and can be removed for the process to be undertaken without it disturbing. It's easy to remove and replace that latch, including its spring.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo)
and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.
Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I
made) that demonstrates how it's done.
You may need to rotate the handle in some models.

same problem - got the choke cover off and removed the two visible screws; following the appliance store repairman's instructions the handle should now just release; but handle is still firmly attached and I am unable to see where to access the additional screws/tabs or whatever is holding it in place.
This does not address the problem of having two screws at the top and bottom of the microwave handle. Everything I have come across addresses the way to get the two screws out, one on the upper and one on the lower handle, but when I look at the inside of the microwave door, I see the there is another screw to remove before getting the handle off. This second screw is obstructed by the door panel. Does anyone know how to get to these screws (preferibly without taking the door off)?
Has anyone been able to deal with the other 2 screws and actually replace the handle? It seems people are able to remove the inner door without problem, and on a some models this is all that is needed. I've ordered the handle but have not tried to replace yet. The exploded diagram is not of great help, in that, it doesn't precisely show handle attaching hardware.
