Magnum 257HP ,Poor TX audio , tried several mics ,SSB ALC , Bias no effect . Did not align TX lower stages . AM , FM are perfect , all RF power outputs perfect , looks good on scope with generator but...

That mod that magnum does really ups the sensitivity. so much thats is too much. If that model has a switch for the compressor turn it off. It will help 100% and make it sound decent not twangy and over modulated. Just the design of these newer exports are not like the old ones.

I got a used magnum S9 and i keep getting reports that it sounds overmodulated. I think the limiter is cut. Id like to find it and put it back in. What do i need to look for in the radio?

find the mods on the radio to find out the limiter number example tr32 or dr 112these are not actual mods for your radio it will be listed on the green part of the board in white most likley it will be removed so you would have to get a new resistor and soldier it back in adjust your mic gain down and keep your moulth away from the mic when speaking if you havent done that already .You could take it to a tech.

Magnum s980 stopped giving me sound from speaker.also transmit scratchy.audio scratchy.

Pour gasoline inside of it and set it on fire for 5 minutes. When done crank up every thing that can be adjusted inside for more modulation and power. Cheap radio. CB junk.

Lots of static when playing over the stereo speakers, and the screen seems loose

sorry but what u have is called a fm modulator some are adjustable some not go to your local car audio shop to find out or take your headunit out and look behind it if so tune the fm mod to a different station one thats not being used there are three preset station on the fm mod but remember just because theres no station on that radio channel were u live dont mean there wont be one when u go into town thats the bad thing about fm mods best thing to do is get a indash cd dvd radio and as far as the lose screen just hand tighten the screws flip down the screen look up there should be 4 or 6 screws there just tighten them up a little this is normal
