I have the same question. The AJ300D speaker dock will play the iPod nano 4th gen but it won't charge it. I am wondering if this is a software problem or a hardware incompatibility issue.

Have the same problem, read somewhere that the Nano 4th generation does not support charging via Firewire anymore an that the AJ300D uses firewire to charge your iPod. I know my solution, I'll bring it back to the shop tomorrow. Hope this helps, Rgds. Nano 4th does not support firewire anymore, best option is to bring your AJ300D back to where you bought it. Philips claim that nano 4th is supported is not true.

The Philips iPod dock model "AJ300D/05" is not responding when plugged in. To troubleshoot:
Check the power source and ensure proper connection.
If applicable, look for any blown fuses as a potential issue.
Verify the dock connector for a secure connection with the device.
Confirm device compatibility and consider using adapters if needed.
Check the remote control and its batteries.
Look for a reset function if available.
Update any associated software.
Inspect for physical damage.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, reach out to Philips customer support or a professional technician for further assistance or potential repair.
Maybe this could be the solution... Source: http://www.speakerstation.co.uk/ipod-speaker-docks-ct-87.html "... Important Note: iPods released since Sept 2008 (e.g.

Some speaker systems which are only compatible for charging the ipod nanos and classics do not work with the iPod Touch and the iPhone, the internals are slighly different from one another which will not allow that speaker system to charge your iTouch.
To play & Charge your touch, i suggest getting a speaker system that supports the iPod touch platform.
for some **** reason the new ipod nano (4th generation) does not support FireWire and therefore will not charge on any docking station that is a FireWire power sorce - which seems to be most of them out there!
have same problem so will end up charging from computer as docking station still plays the new nano, no point in buying new docking station just for sake of charging!
