When TV switched on, indicator light flashes continuously. There is no picture or sound and remote control does not functionFX at all. TV is Sony FD Trinitron WIDE Colour Television (model KV-28FX68B or KV-32FX68B). Thanks for any help, Austin.
I've had the same happen with Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-27FS100 27. The TV is blinking 5 times, pauses 3 sec, then repeats this pattern. The last working condition had it display a sharp picture but with one each of a blue, green, and red stripe across the top edge of the pic since firmware updates ran out and HD tech improved as if the Tv wasn't keeping up. There was one cable tech that was able to fix the picture by changing settings, maybe, output resolution selections and size of picture, etc, but I don't recall what the settings were. Then, more recently when the cable/set top box box became defective and had to be replaced, the tv was off again for a period of time due to the red blinks. This time since the tech selected and connected cables to the HD ports on the back of the TV in Video 4, the Tv came back on about a week later but the pic was scrambled in color. It was late and I was anxious and inadvertently powered the TV back off rather than call cable to see if they could fix the picture from the scrambled state. I think they may have accidentally turned off that cable box during that time and that may have contributed to the scrambled pic since when the tech visited I didn't have a working picture r audio for him to evaluate. Who knows? So, then, wondering if HD Video 4 was a bad choice since it wasn't the last working choice as in a clear picture, I decided to hastily switch the cable (red, blue, green) back to ports of Video 1 since this was the last working option where I had TV. Since that time while there was no pic, I tried unpluging for a few hrs and replugging, and pressing Display, 5, volume down arrow, and power on the Sony remote but this did nothing to retore the audio and video so I just powered it back on with the power button. the pattern of the 5 red blinks and 3 sec pause pattern continues and right now no audio or video. I'm unsure if the audio and video will return in about a week automatically powering on or what I can do. From there I'd like to know if switching back to Video 4, the suggested ports by the cable tech is a good idea. if you have any additional suggestions that don't require bringing it in to a service center this would be great. It's 100+ lbs and an older tv. I'm not a big girl, it's not like I can just lift it and say hey, can you check this out and tell me what you think? So, I'm here seeking answers. Thanks. https://www.fixya.com/support/t29802947-best_high_def_settings_use_analog_tv

Hi,
The
Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in
the TV. The self-diagnostic function of the TV will cause the STANDBY light to
blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the
STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue.
Few
examples are given below; some of the issues may be resolved without the need
for service.
1 blink / 2 blinks / 5 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a
power-related problem with your set.
3 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your
set. The set will need to be serviced to allow a technician to determine the
specific issue that needs to be repaired. If the power light flashes three
times in sequence in a Lamp TV, the lamp cover is not securely attached.
Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
4 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a back light or lamp power
problem.
6 blinks: - This indicates that there is some kind of audio problem with your
set.
7 blinks: - This indicates that there is a temperature problem with your set.
Please check to make sure that the air vents on the sides and back of the set
are not blocked or clogged and there is adequate ventilation around the
television. We recommend that you check and clean the vents periodically to
make sure the set receives adequate air flow. If the problem continues, the set
will need to be serviced.
8 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a video-related problem with your
set. If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash,
follow the steps below to perform a power reset:
Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved.
Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
If
the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from
the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet.
If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge
protector and not the television.
If
the issue continues to occur, service may be required.
