SOURCE: Microwave buzzing

It's likely a bad magnetron or maybe the high-voltage transformer. If it's within the warranty period of the magnetron (5 years or less), I would call Sears. In my professional opinion, no one should work on a microwave unless they are fully informed and aware of the deadly hazards and necessary precautions. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number (without the suffix) here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

SOURCE: KENMORE MICROWAVE (HOUSEHOLD) LOCKED

It sounds like you press STOP two or three times to lock it. Maybe that (or another key) will unlock it.

The lock / unlock procedure will be covered in your owner's manual.

Or you can try a hard reset - unplug it from the wall for one minute, then plug it back in and try again.

If you don't have your manual, you can get one here. (Enter your model number without any spaces)

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

SOURCE: kenmore microwave

i fixed by unplugging the microwave with the door open. I plugged it back in and the F6 was gone. I was then able to set the clock and turn the light on/off . When I closed the microwave door, the F6 came back on and the microwave was making a humming noise. I slapped the side of the microwave near the keypad, and the F6 cleared from the readout and the humming stopped. The microwave is working fine now. Don't know why, except maybe slap on the side reset a relay or something. Anyway, I will never by a Sears Kenmore appliance for the rest of my life. The door rattles when you open a close it (like a part inside the door is broken) and this is the second time a fault code has appeared during use. I had GE Profile appliances at my last house, which are more $$ initial cost, but who wants to screw around buying a new microwave every four or five years. I'll happily spend a couple hundred more for the peace of mind and knowing that it will work during Thanksgiving dinner with the family over.

SOURCE: Lights up counts down and thats it no fan no spin no heating

I believe that there are to fuses inside this unit. One feeds the electronic components and the other feeds the turntable and the magnitron. Un plug the unit and check both fuses, you might get away with this cheaply. Please let me know if this helps. P.S. if one of the fuses continues to blow its time to get rid of the unit, because if they go bad they get stronger and very dangerous. What normally would boil water at 3 minutes could change to 45 seconds. Be careful.

Why does my microwave keep running/heating until I open the door? what can i do about it?

Sounds like a problem with the control panel. Further diagnostic testing would be required, however, as there can be other causes.

Fan continuously runs, have to leave door open

Check the door switches with digital meter, usually find one bad one. Set meter to ohms and test, some will be normally open and others closed, check with the door open and closed.

Emerson Microwave MW8115SS --

I would suggest you check the door switches inside the microwave oven just below the keypad, rectangular in shape. The switches are normally open or closed, set meter to ohms, unhook lead from one side and test with door open and closed. If readings are the same both ways the switch is defective. "check all switches"

What does -F6- code stand for?

F6 means a problem in the control circuit board.
Try unplugging the microwave with the door open, then plug it back.
Try the solution that you find here, if it does not work the panel must be replaced.

Wasn't heating food ... Now won't turn on.

We have critical safety information, door switch information, and disassembly information at our site. You can access it through our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk The purpose of the middle "monitor" door switch is to blow the fuse if the upper or lower switch gets activated with the door open. So you'll also need a fuse now, certainly. You may have originally just had a bad door switch, but there also may be a problem in the high voltage section. Most typically a bad connection at the magnetron or a bad magnetron. You can find exploded views of the microwave and affordably order parts here http://tinyurl.com/gv383 Or you can order parts from Sears via http://www3.sears.com
