SOURCE: Sharp TV Audio Problem

Almost all intermittent audio or audio failure problems with Sharp Aquos LC**D4U, LC**D5U, LC**D6U, and LC**D7U televisions are the result of a relatively simple design flaw involving the heatsink pad compound used on the Tripath TA-2024 amplifier chip (IC2502) found on the A/V board. This compound has a fairly low melting point and, over time, tends to seep out from between both top and bottom heatsinks onto the legs of this chip as well as onto circuitry immediately surrounding it. Further, over time the seeping compound also becomes somewhat conductive creating bridges which short the audio amplifier circuit causing everything from intermittent audio to complete audio failure.

Fortunately, in almost every case audio can be completely restored by cleaning the old compound from both top/bottom heatsinks and from both sides of the PC board in the area immediately surrounding the chip (I used rubbing alcohol which worked quite well). Sharp has issued a service bulletin addressing this issue (LCDTV-194) wherein a ‘2502 Heat Kit’ is specified. This kit is Sharp Part Number: PSPKIT663WJZZ and is available from circuitcity.partsearch.com for $19.95. However, it’s entirely possible to get by with the heat pad only, Sharp Part Number: PSPAZA663WJKZ for only $9.95. Please note that board replacement for this problem is almost never necessary, so if you’re working with a repair technician be sure and insist that he/she be certain to try cleaning the old board and replacing the aforementioned heatsink pads before charging you for a new board.

If one is reasonably familiar with electronics disassembly/reassembly and is willing to take their time, this can even be a DIY project. It is possible to find ‘important service references’ by simply entering LC26D4U (the 5, 6, and 7 series are very similar, and this information covers all screen sizes) into the search field at eserviceinfo.com. This will greatly aid in disassembly/reassembly of the TV, as the A/V board is somewhat ‘buried’ under other boards. Please refer to post # 373 at avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=647174&page=13 for pics of the information detailed here.

Particular thanks are owed ‘Aureius’ of the AVS forums for his research efforts concerning this issue !

PINK Laptop screen

1. Plug in an external monitor to your laptop. If the picture on the external monitor is good, then the problem is your laptop screen. If the external monitor also displays a pink screen, the problem is in your laptop hardware or software.

  • 2 Contact Dell if your computer is still under warranty when the problem is with your screen. If your laptop is not covered by warranty, contact a computer repair shop to have the screen repaired or replaced.
  • 3 Update your drivers and bios. Outdated drivers or bios have been known to cause screen issues. Visit Dell's Drivers and Downloadsicon1.png website where you can enter your service tag and find the appropriate updates for your computer.
  • 4 Contact Dell's technical support team if the above steps do not fix the pink screen. Dell has had known issues with the pink screen being caused by the graphics card on some of their laptopsicon1.png. In many cases, replacing the motherboard is necessary to remedy the problem.

    I have a 22" Samsung

This will require a service center to fix. The pink line gets caused by the control board when it fails. If it is under warranty contact Samsung.

    Pink screen

A discolored screen, such as pink in your case, implies either:

1.) The motherboard and/or video processor of the TV has malfunctioned.

2.) Your input device is rendering the pink screen, such as a video game console for example.

If you determine that your input is not the reason for the pink screen then you need to contact Samsung for a warranty replacement.

Samsung offers a 1 year / 12 month standard warranty, and some of higher model TV's have a 3yr / 36 month warranty.

You can find out your warranty information by going to http://www.samsung.com/us/support/#

Also if you have purchased the TV in the last 30 days you can purchase a Squaretrade warranty which will refund the price of the television if they can not fix it. www.squaretrade.com

I hope this helps!  Thank you for using FixYa!

Pink color horizontal lines comes on and off

That issue is with one or more of the board that drive the plasma screen. If you have a warranty, you will want to call LG for a free repair.

Sorry, but to trouble shoot that issue would require some TV tools and knowledge of electronics. There are several boards involved with processing the picture image to the plasma screen.
I hope this information has helped you.
    Good Luck.

Canon digital IXUS 970IS, pink/purple screen images

Sounds like a CCD image sensor problem, not a do-it-yourself repair, but this would also definitely fall under warranty repair. The IXUS 970IS is a relatively new camera, and thus your camera should likely still be under warranty. Recommend that you contact Canon directly to arrange warranty repair. If in US or Canada, call 1-800-OK-CANON. All others, www.canon.com, select "Support" and then your Region for further info in your local area.

    T.V. abducted by aliens!

The controller eprom is in a fatal error and cannot be repaired. The pink indicates that a channel in the LVDS interface is gone and that cannot be repaired. This most likely is caused by a failure in the LCD module itself which then shorted out the driver on the main board. If your unit is under warranty, take it in as the LCD panel itself should be covered.

    Good luck

    LG RT-42P245V-Band of pink

The PDP (plasma) panel has gone bad and need to be replaced. This is not a user serviceable part and cost about 1/3 of buying a new unit plus the cost of labor for a two-man job. I would hope that this unit was purchased less than 1 year as warranty for parts and labor is 1 year. If not I do hope you purchased an extended warranty or paid it with a MasterCard (some MC card provider extends the warranty by another year). Cost of repair for flat screen TVs are high so it really a wise investment to purchase extended warranty. Fixya offers extended warranty on your future electronics purchase. Hope this helps.
