To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability? Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its user manual. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. If you see the site by "MOSAIC" view, will make surf easier.

I have had a look at the Curry's Partmaster website. The have a lot of Akai Remotes which seem to be priced around £14.99. You could take a look. If you still have the manual it might tell you the model number of the remote. For instance RC81024. The remotes on this site all have numbers like the above all starting with RC. If you find the remote number it will help chase down the correct remote.

Well, for that problem, you could do a few things. If you lost the manual which has all the TV codes, call the company's number and see if they can tell you, or if they can ship you a new manual. If not, try entering that company's remote name onto the internet and see if it has anything about it or even the code.
