I have the same problem and everything works but no picture. I can turn up the volum and change inputs but no picture. I have to turn it on and off a couple of times to get it to work. I have had the same problem for a while now. Purchased in May 2008. Always worked after a couple of times until today. Now picture will not come on at all. I have the exact same problem. I also purchase my 32AV500U in May 2008 and here it is 18 December 2008, no picture! Is this some kind of manufacturer conspiracy...? I have the exact same problem. I've got the same problem. It tries to bring up a picture, I hear static, and then nothing (audio is fine though)

Same problem - Had warranty repair done, they replaced the power supply, worked fine for 1 week then it happened again. Toshiba is worthless

When I turn the TV on - I have sound no picture. Have had the main board replaced - didn't solve the problem. Same problem with two of the 32AV500U (mine and my parents). Have to turn it off and on numerous times to get the picture to come on. Been dealing with warranty over the phone, no help....

My unit is under Warranty and the repair has been authorized by Toshiba to a local authorized Toshiba repair shop. The repair shop has identified the problem as the "backlight inverter" (?), which part is out of stock and on back order for at least a month! From reading about this problem in this unit on the internet, this problem occurs frequently -- so it's no surprise that the replacement part is out of stock. Toshiba can't keep up with the demand for the part !!!!!!! My unit is under Warranty and the repair has been authorized by Toshiba to a local authorized Toshiba repair shop. I have the same unit and problem. A few months ago, I noticed that when I turned the t.v. on, the picture would not come in but the sound did. So, I would turn off and immediately turn it back on and it was fine. I thought, maybe it's an HD thing. My t.v. was not even a year old before the screen just blacked out (although the sound worked and I changed the channels and could hear them changing but couldn't see a thing...as if the t.v. was completely off). I called for a service center to come look at it and they told me they had to take it and order a part. The t.v. had been waiting for a part for 4 weeks and it just arrived yesterday...although they've had my television since April 11th. NOW, they are telling me today that I now need a panel ALSO, which has to be ordered and can take an ADDITIONAL TWO WEEKS to be delivered. If I had another T.V. this would not tick me off so much but I don't! (Please deter from judging:-)
