Click start control panel administrative tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes

automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now start

you might tick one box then return after its finished the first repair then return and tick the second box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive

I found that you get best results by ticking one box then returning after it has finished then tick the other box

if still no joy

Right click on usb drive select properties you will have an array of options

Select the hardware option then select your drive properties policies

restore defaults

In XP

Right click on your drive select properties then on customize restore Default in W 7

If you need more help with this post a reply

hope this helps you

SOURCE: How to remove write protection

USB drives can be write-protected by modifying the StoreageDevicePolicies Registry key and WriteProtect Registry value.
click Start>run>regedit to open Registry Editor. and press control+F to open the find dialogue box and type "usb device" or "driverdesc" to open usb mass storage device or type "usb mass storage device" in the search windows. And right click on it and delete. This will set the policy value to 0. then insert your usb device. It will work fine.
# Remember: do not delete any unknow files in the registry as this will make some programes not work as usual.
also

If you are running a Windows XP OS then you might be able to:

- click start right click on my computer select open
- Right click the icon of your Flash Drive (It should be F:/ or something)
- Click Properties in the menu that comes up
- Click the Sharing tab
- Click permissions
- And finally, click Allow next to Full Control.

hope this helps

My usb shows only 1.96 mb while its orignal space is 4 gb

remember that a memory device needs space in which to operate
so a 4gb stick will have less than the 4gb storage
It is very possible that there is some memory being used that results in the 1.96 remaining
one possible solution is to read the stick and see if there is any files or folders than are required and then reformat it to get back to full memory

I have photos files etc in my pen drive of Kingston DT 101 G2, what do i have to do to run ur Drive to see my files and photos ? can some one help me? thanks, Janaka

Insert the pen drive into USB port, then open My Computer. You will see some drives. Hard disk drives, CD Room drives, and removable media drives. Example: Your hard disk (drive C, D, E), CD Room (drive F), Removable media (drive G). So, each time you insert a tool such as pen drives, memory cards, etc, you can see it on drive G.

To view the data pen drive, double click My Computer, click the drive G. If you want to move files from pen drive to your hard disk, open the drive G, block all files, copy and paste to drive C / D / E.

hopefully help

Show less space

Hi khurramrkt,

From the link below, locate your Data Traveler and download a new copy of the security software for it. Use the new copy to access the private zone which is probably where the missing 2GB is at.
