There should be a jumper on the motherboard OR a setting in the motherboard bios. Try looking through the bios menus first... If there isn't a way to disable, get the model of the main board and look at the jumper diagrams online.

If your PC had an onboard video card before this, you may want to go in and make sure you have disabled it in the BIOS. This has happened to me before.

Pc powers up but no video on screen gateway 420gr desktop

Yes generally speaking when you drop in a videocard it typically will disable the built on one. You may have to disable it though. I know you said you did not see the onboard video in BIOS but there is almost always a setting in there to turn it off.

I need to disable the onboard video by finding the jumpers on the motherboard (MSI 7191 Version 1.1). When I installed a new PCI card (because the onboard video is broken) the computer freezes up and...

Go to the device manage and instead of disabling it, uninstall it. Then power down, move the cable to the pci port. reboot, when windows brings up the new hardware found, hit cancel until it disappears. Go back to device manager and if it has re-appeared uninstall it again and go about your business.

Video Card Chnage

Hi Rick, you need to disable the onboard video from within you're bios. Please go to page 28 in you're manual. This will show you how to enter the bios menu. Once there go to page 26, where you will find. Onboard GPU (Enable If No Ext GPU) set this to Disable. Save & exit you're bios. You're system will auto restart. Once windows has finished loading, install the driver software for you're PCIE card. Suggest you check for updated driver software for you're PCIE video card.

If I can help you further, feel free to post.
Suggestions & comments welcomed.

I get no video output from the new PCI video card I've installed in my Think Centre

Maybe your old video card is on board because you don't mention it that you remove it. Maybe the problem is the cmos or the bios setup. If you can go to bios setup look for the onboard vga in disable it and look for pci vga option if disable enable it. or try to transfer the new pci video card to the other slot maybe the slot is damage or corroded that's why the contact to the board in not fucntioning.
