place a turned on torch against the tv screen while tv on can you see a picture ? If yes then back light problem possibly inverter that powers the back light.
You tubesearch on tv faults for more insight on possible causes of black screen or no screen on Tv's
if no picture with torch then it might be main board .
Check you tube for ideas on possible causes.
look first in the captions area for TEXT---if its on there will be a blank box in the middle of the screen but usually it will be black--look to see if TEXT is engaged.
If you're good at soldering, Part #s STK392-570 may both be bad. If you tap on it and it works. Pull out the board with the 2 chips, (mark all the connectors) with the TV off. Replace these. You can find them on Ebay (at least to see what they look like). First go to the spot under the board where both of them are and resolder each pin avoiding bridges. Also resolder all the spots that you see the plugs you labeled at. With the TV on using one hand, with one hand in your pocket, carefully physically feel the metal heat sink the parts are connected to. If they are cold, you probably have bad fuses. They are usually beige. With the T.V. off and a meter, check these for continuity.
To adjust the screen size (resolution) you have to right click on an empty place on Desktop, select Properties and then Settings. Under screen resolution change it to more, until it shows under it 1024x768, or even bigger if you want and it is possible.
You have a three port yellow-red-white port. Plug the port's yellow end to the yellow plug point of your TV & DVD player both and this way red to red and white to white. I think it fix your problem.
Since the image on the projector is OK then the problem definitely lays in you monitor. You might want to turn off any other electrical equipment in your lab, especially any kind of radio transmitter and see if that is affecting your picture. Strong magnets or large power cables can also generate magnetic fields that can adversely affect CRT pictures as well.
If that isn?t the problem then it is likely the monitor. It can be fixed; however, this is typically beyond the skills of the average user. Any TV and some computer repair shops can repair a CRT but is it economically feasible? A new 17? CRT can be had for $60 on-line and that has a 1 year warranty. Repairing your old monitor could easily run that or more and usually is only warranted for 90 days.
