Ryobi charger model bd0547 (140237023) not charging battery

Charger Model BD0547, Number 140237023, is not charging batteries. Lights don't come on, battery doesn't charge. When I put battery in the charger the yellow (charge plus) light flickers.

SOURCE: when battery is docked on charger both yellow

that generally indicates a bad battery, but I would try another battery to make sure not a faulty circuit in the charger giving you a bad reading.

I purchased a brand new P113 Ryobi charger about 2 years ago. It has never worked. If I put a P104 battery in for a charge, it looks like it works correctly. I push the battery tester on the battery...

If you have your receipt, check with Ryobi to see if it is still under warranty. It comes with either a 2 or 3 year warranty, depending on when it was purchased. If it is still covered, get it replaced/repaired. If it is not, buy the P117 charger. $30 at Home Depot. It has a 90 day satisfaction guarantee. If it charges your batteries properly, you're good. If not, bring it back if you don't like/want it. My P113 won't get out of test mode now, or charge Lithium batteries anymore. So I bought the P117 yesterday. Works great, and it's a lot cheaper than new batteries! And it has a 3 year warranty.

Will a ryobi 18 volt charger replace a coleman powermate battery charger? What's your problem?

They look different in their shape where the battery goes so I would say no. To be safe always use the charger from the same manufacturer. There are a few different types of batteries too so it is always best to use the model number of your original charger to search for the replacement.

I just bought the Lithium - ion batteries for replacement for my 18.0 volt ni-cad battery. when I put it (ion battery) in the charger (ni-cad charger) no lights come on. what's up?

Lithium Ion batteries don't charge the same way ni-cads or ni-mh do. You need a lithium ion specific charger to charge them. (Some chargers do multiple types.)

Battery not charging. Orange and Green light on charger. 18V Plus one system

The air holes on the bottom of the batteries are there for the battery to vent. Downside is, these vents can also allow moisture to get in and prevent contacts from letting the battery charge and causing the "defective" display on the charger.

I work on pool and spa equipment and I had dropped my batteries in a small puddle of water where I was working, both went dead immediately and both showed "defective" on the charger even after drying them out for a few days.

Tried using a can of air and gave each of the vent holes several shots... The batteries charged and are now working perfectly.

I'm sure even overnight condensation could be the culprit for a charger to display "Defective"

Included in my Ryobi printed instructions are the statements: 1-"Green LED on indicates battery pack is fully charged and charger is in maintenance charge mode. 2-"To obtain the longest...

Any battery left in a charger is still hooked up to a circuit. Depending on the charger this can mean a slow discharge is possible. Ryobi's Maintenance Charge Mode means the charger will 'refresh' the battery at regular intervals, usually every 30 days. A battery's lifespan is determined by how many times it is discharged/recharged so to get 'the longest possible battery life' it is desirable to reduce the number of times a battery is recharged. One way is to use the battery until it is dead or near so another is to remove the battery from the charger when it's fully charged to reduce the number of times the charger refreshes the battery.

I've open the charger and found that Q4 is open. But they have removed the part number from the component so you can't get a replacement.
