My mower (Honda HR215) skips grass when going one direction. When the discharge side is on the inside of the cut it seems to cut just fine. However, when the discharge side is on the outside of the cut it skips grass. I have replaced the blade and have even sharpened it and cleaned the deck and it still skips. Someone said to go slower but I have always ran it in #2 speed (#2 of a 3 speed mower) and it has always cut just fine. I am quite sure the blade is installed properly because I have two HR215's and they are both installed the same. Please give me some help if you can-- I have ran out of ideas. Thanks CF
SOURCE: Problem mowing my lawn.
I had the same problem and I already found those recommended solutions\ causes on the web:
1. The
motor isn't on full throttle.
2. The blade is upside down.
3. The grass is
too high when cutting it.
4. Overlap your cuts.
It helped my problem/ I hope it will help yours too!

Sounds like you tilted the unit enough to cause the float in the carb to open too much and therefore, the needle valve inside is stuck.
Remove the bowl and let it resit itself and then re install the bowl. If that doesn't work you may need to purchase a new kit for the carb to get the needle valve. If you find a small minut ring around the face of the needle valve replace it. That's why it's gonna leak. Good luck

It sounds a lot like the balancer is loose. You can most likely fix this yourself, here's how: pull the spark plug wire off the plug, tilt the lawnmower up to expose the blade, rock the blade to see if it is loose on the shaft, if it is all you have to do is tighten the bolt so the blade and the balancer are flush to the shaft. That should fix your noise and uneven cut problem. If that doesn't fix it, let me know here, ok? Cheers!
