A lot of different brand refrigerators have similar problems to this. I encountered this stuck filter problem on our Samsung side-by-side fridge that has the filter inside the fridge side and above the top shelf towards the back-right corner. Here is the solution that worked for me...

1. Remove the top glass shelf to give yourself extra working room.
2. Put on some rubber cleaning gloves to be able to get a tight grip.
3. Turn the old filter 1/4-turn to the left... it may take quite a bit of force.
4. Pull-down on the old filter to remove it. If it still will not come out, proceed to the next step.
5. After you turn the old filter 1/4-turn to the left and it stops, then get a good grip, because you will need to turn it an additional 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch. The left-edge of one of the vertical molding lines that run down the Aqua Pure filters should be directly under the centering-mark on your water filter holder.

That extra 1/4-inch counter-clockwise turn always seems to do the trick, and then the filter pulls down and out easily. Good luck!

After trying many different suggestions including all the above. Simply use a automobile oil filter wrench on your stuck frig filter. It came out instantly with absolutely no effort. SIMPLE.

Had this problem. Read all the responses online, it was only by combining multiple responses that I could figure it out. I did this; turn the filter 1/4 turn counter clock wise, as directed; (this was exceedingly hard- I could only turn about a 1/16 " a day and my fingers were done for) When it reaches the 1/4 turn spot; take a rubber mat, used to open jars, place over plastic grab handle on filter and clamp down with a pair of long nosed pliers and pull hard. It popped out. !

Thank you Ann, I tried all of the other suggestions repeatedly with no luck. I tried your muscle it method and tah-dah, it popped out with a few good tugs.

I have recently had the same struggle with trying to get the water purifier filter out of my refrigerator and it simply wouldn’t come out. After reading dang near every single one of your guys’s suggestions none of them worked so I went out to the shop and grabbed a pair of channel locks. Worked like a charm. I am 16 and thought I needed an act of God to get that out but nope just a pair of channel locks. Note: no damage to anything

I will try but is it the filter brand or the refrigerator at fault?

So I was having the same problem. I turned the water off to the fridge and then held the water dispenser down while I turned the filter and that did the trick. Had to do the same thing to install the new one and it worked!!

I had this problem. Finally I made extra sure (by looking at the new filter) which what it must turn and I put muscle to it until it came loose.
I twisted so hard I was sure it would break, but it came off without damage.

Some of these units also have a release button on the front of the filter or on the receptacle frame.

I can not get the filter holder to twist off.. It seems to be stuck

Hello friend, thank you for your post!

I understand that your water filter holder is stuck and will not come off of your Frigidaire refrigerator. I see you have the Pure Source filter and after reviewing that it does not appear to have a filter holder. To remove that filter you should have to push it in and it should discharge. If it is not doing so, I would push it in and turn it slightly to remove it. If you are still having trouble with your filter removal could you provide me with your model number please? You can locate the serial tag (which lists your model number) on the inside of your refrigerator normally on the right hand wall. I look forward to assisting you. -Matt

I have a jandy pda and have no idea what the message that its displaying means. This is our first pool and the owners manual has not helped! It says aqua pure 100% salt 4500 ppm, check aqua pure high salt...

it is showing your status aqua pure is set at 100% salt is at 4500 parts per million which is too high to operate should be between 2700 and 3400 to work properly you need to drain some water out and add fresh to dilute the salt general fault is because salt level is too high it is showing your filter pump and extra aux is on go to the equipment on on main screen it will give you a list of all your equipment any questions send me more info

Brand new Aqua Critter, won't move at all? Checked filter, checked hoses? Still will not move? Now what?

It looks like my cleaner. While it is hooked up to the filter, lift the unit, keep the suction side under water and flip it over. The feet should be moving. Feel for suction on the inlet on the underside.
There is a waterwheel inside the suction. Is it rotating? Is the suction hole clear, sometimes stones, acorns or other solid items get stuck in the suction that stop the water motor.
If there is something stuck inside or if the wheel is not moving, on my unit there are a few screws that can be removed to inspect inside. Naturally before doing this, disconnect the cleaner, drain it and take it to a location where it can be partially disassembled to inspect.

White calcium deposits in faucets

Sounds like scale build up in your hot water heater. Aqua-Pure makes a nice scale inhib thats installed on your cold water supply to your hot water heater. Parts and all is about $150.00. Add labor and your set unless you can solder then its a DIY. Homedepot sells the filtration device by Aqua-Pure.

I have been unable to remove the wter filter. I have tried to turn it 1/4 of an inch clockwise as described in the owners manual but the filter won't budge. any suggestions?

OK maybe try 1/4 inch counterclockwise and pull down. Here is what the service manual quotes.

That is easy for anyone to misread.
Water Filter Removal

The water filter is located in the upper right-hand

corner of the refrigerator. The water filter filters water

for the ice maker and the water dispenser.

1. Turn the water filter 1/2 turn counterclockwise and

pull it down.

2. To install the filter, align the indication mark

(unlock position) and push it up while turning 1/2

turn clockwise until the lock position is aligned.

Do not over tighten.
That would be to the left while facing the filter and opposite for installation. Note where and when to push up. Please let me know if you have any questions and please rate if I am able to help you, Thanks, Sea Breeze
