Opening the NAT connection for Xbox 360 working through 2 routers

I am trying to get my Xbox 360's NAT connection to 'open.' However, I am working through two routers; the 360 connects to the wireless router, a Belkin F5D9230-4 v2, which connects to a Linksys router, a Linksys RTP 300. The IP address for the 360 is 192.168.2.2, which feeds from the Belkin, which is 192.168.2.1. The Linksys' IP, however, is 192.168.15.1. This is where the problem occurs. I can't put the 360 into the DMZ or forward the port in anyway to the Linksys because the IP address is not the same. I've opened the NAT settings on both routers and placed the 360 into the DMZ for the Belkin, but am unable to do so for the Linksys for said reasons. What am I doing wrong?

That's not the problem. I've had no problem connecting to xbox live; it's just the fact that I'm working through two routers that won't allow me to open up the NAT. I've been over the xbox 360 support page numerous times. It's something to do with my routers, not the xbox.

Hi,
have you tried those instructions?

http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/networking/network-ports-used-xbox-live

http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/XboxLive360/

I Assume that your routers and Xbox have fixed IP addresses.
Then Linksys router should forward the ports to Belkin router - so Linksys forwards to 192.168.2.1
Belkin router should forward the ports to Xbox - so Belkin fowards to 192.168.2.2

I've also seen some routers that Xbox didn't want to work with through wifi connection. So if you have a possibility then check out if that's not a case in your network.

Best regards

  1. How do you connect your Linksys router to Belkin router? Do you connect your Linksys router to the Internet/WAN port of the Belkin?
  2. If so, what is the Internet connection type set in your Belkin router? Is it dynamic?
  3. If the Belkin router is set to dynamic IP and if it is obtaining an IP address from your Linksys router(you may check the status page of your Belkin router and look for IP address), then you may need to forward or set that IP address as the DMZ to your Linksys router. Make sure that XBOX is still configured as the DMZ host in your Belkin
Hope this helps!

Every time i try to join my friends game it says session is ureachable and it is really annoying. We live at different IP addresses and could connect before. We all have the same DLCs and it is only me...

make sure you and your friends have open NAT, you need to port forward certain ports for xbox live on your router, try to check if ubisoft also has specific ports need to be open. if still the same contact your ISP, they might be having problems.

With these guides, and bit of web reading from other peoples FAQ's.. I did it.

The guide you need will depend on what modem/router you have.

My router is on, and is hooked up to my verizon modem. My xbox 360 and my computer are both hooked up to the router and all the lights are on but only my computer is working for the internet where my 360...

with verizon, you need to set the modem to full bridged mode so that the connection from your modem will be opened. This certain firewall is called NAT. Your modem and your router has this feature. To disable NAT on your modem, you need to set it to full bridged mode. To disable the NAT on your router, you need to open ports on your router.

You need to open this port on the router for Xbox live to work
TCP: 80, 3074, 53

UDP: 88, 3074

forward it to the ip of your Xbox.

this should set the NAT on your xbox to open, not moderate.

How do i change my NAT connection from moderate to open

This one is simple. Find the IP address that your Xbox is assigned by your router, then put it into the DMZ. This also goes for PS3 users who are having trouble with internet access.

Change NAT to open

You need to open all the ports for the xbox live. The NAT of that router model cannot be configured to open. Its just a simple NAT for internet connection.

Nat / strict

First, why are you connecting to your laptop? Second, reset your modem and router. I doubt you need to open ports that are not normally open...but if you think you need to do more, access the router and open the ports manually.
