Are you getting any error msgs when you try to print? It's possible that you have a communication problem. Make sure that your computer and printer is able to talk.
Since no details were provided, you can try to uninstall the Lexmark software and download an updated driver online at www.lexmark.com.

SOURCE: The black cartbridge is not printing and won't align

Dies this model have a separate print head? Or is the head part of the cartridge? If it is the latter then it seems to be a data transfer problem- which means possibly the contacts in the machine that mate with the contacts on the cartridge are dirty or damaged. In the first instance try gentle rubbing with a moist tissue the in machine contacts then try. Also try the Lexmark website Tech Support Team.

SOURCE: paper feeder won't follow through

I found olasNick's comments very worthwhile. I was also having a paper feed problem and carefully disabled my LEX73 and now clearly understand the comments regarding prying it apart. There are plastic clips that hold all of the plastic together, by gently prying and pushing the clips at the same time I was able to get it apart without breaking any plastic. Once inside the problem was obvious, a broken gear on the roller assembly. I guess I could order a new gear from LEX but at this point, I think I'll take it a sign to retire this old workhorse. I think I got this printer about 10 years ago and can't imagine how many reams of paper have gone through this printer. It doesn't owe me anything.

SOURCE: alignment problem on lexmark x4650 printer

Try this

Turn off you printer
remove the cartridges
and try gently moving the ink cartridges carrier from left to right
for about a min.

also you can try to wipe machine oil on the bar that holds the ink cartridge carrier
then put the cartridges back inside the carrier
then turn on you printer
and try to print again
If problem persist

TRY THIS:

turn off your printer
unplug the power cable from the printer
lift you printer and put it in an upside down position
then shake the printer from left to right
see if there's any foreign objects stuck inside the printer

I can't print an alignment page from my computer. How do I align my computer?

Alignng your Lexmark:
1. Load paper in the paper tray.
  1. On the control panel, press Mode repeatedly until Copy is selected.
  2. Press Options until MAINTENANCE appears.
  3. Press + until Align appears, and then press Select.

An alignment page prints. Once this page prints, your automatic alignment is complete.

This works on Lexmark Printers, if it doesn't let us know what model you have.

When I try to line tells me that the paper size mismatch and only takes a copy of the text

Have/had the same problem: Getting "paper size mismatch" on the C4280 status screen, after we got a paper jam. Every time we hit OK and put in paper, Message about "Now printing Alignment page", it feeds through quickly, with nothing printed on the page and reverts back to Paper size mismatch. Finally got rid of the error, not sure how, but now when I try to copy anything, we only get the lower right postion of the document that I'm trying to copy. Printing from the PC seems ok.
Powered off and back on, and it is back to P"now printing alignment page, quick feed through and "paper size mismatch" error. AND
When copying directly from the glass panel,it will only print a quarter of the page -however it prints and coorectly if we print directly from the computer.
The problem is the paper size sensors. Remove the plastic access panel that is for access to the rollers in the back and has 4 rollers on it. There are two papaer sensors attached to the printer circuit board (PCB). The control arm for the sensor is a small plastic piece that extends slightly into the paper path above the PCB. The plastic can be broken when you are removing a paper jam. I stuck a small piece of a match stick in the sensor to keep it open (as though a wider piece of paper was passing throught the printer). I can't switch to smaller card stock, etc, but who cares, it works.
The copying problem is caused because the C4280 will not scan correctly until after it does the alignment phase.

Printer keeps saying out of paper even when full half way through alignment.

This seems to be a hardware issue. Try to remove the cartridges from the printer then close the cover. Remove all sheets of paper then check in the feeder for foreign objects or any obstructions in its way. Unplug the printer from the power source. Wait at least 30 seconds before plugging back the printer to the power source. When it's ready, reload the cartridges. Load some paper but don't load too much because it can send wrong information to the printer. Print the alignment page again. If the problem persists, I strongly suggest you contact Lexmark Technical Support to further investigate the problem. I hope I can assist you more on this matter.

How do I copy a document on a lexmark x 1185 printer scanner copier

Turn the documents printed page away from you. (Document facing you, turn it around so that the print is on the backside)

Insert it in the top paper feed tray. Align the left side of the document page, with the alignment bar on the left side of the top paper feed tray. (Put the left side of the paper against the plastic bar on the left side of the paper tray)

Computer running, Windows loaded. Go to Start>Hover your mouse cursor on All Programs>Lexmark>Lexmark Printer

Click on the Copy function, and go to the Properties window to set how many copies you want, (Default setting is 1), what size paper you're using, and so on.

Brother HL 2040

Make sure the paper aligning slides are tight to the sides of the paper. In the case that they are spring loaded make sure there is not something preventing them from holding the paper properly aligned.
The print head could be 'off-track'...
If the text is properly aligned on the edge of the page, but appears crooked it is related to the print head assembly. If the text is not aligning to the edge of the page then the paper is not feeding straight and the paper aligning slides are at fault.
It is also possible that one of the paper feed rollers are not grasping the paper and it is forcing it to one side as it pulls it in.
