The CPU is runnimg with a useage of 45-60% as soon as the laptop has booted up because Kapersky is upgrading the virus definition file and is running a virus check on the files stored on the hard disk. When Kapersky has finished these tasks then you will see a drop in CPU useage.
NOTE as you install more programs and as your data files increase so will it take longer for Kapersky to carry out the virus scan.

SOURCE: I just bought a new Acer Aspire 5534, it has

yes you can upgrade the cpu but you will have to dismantel your computer to get to the processor.
and you must be ready for all the headaches that will come with it. now the real question is ,.... is it worth it>? NO its not worth it because acers ar proned to motherboard failure after upgrading the processor.
also they are proned to burn in failure. try adding ram if that dont do it i wouldnt stick too much into that model of computer.

SOURCE: Can I upgrade my CPU to an Intel Core 2 duo 1.7

You are basically limited to what was optional on the model. So you can only upgrade to one of the following cpus:

Intel Pentium M 745 (1.8-GHz) with 400-MHz front
side bus (FSB)
Intel Pentium M 735 (1.7-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
Intel Pentium M 725 (1.6-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
Intel Pentium M 710 TJ85 (1.4-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB;
operates at a lower temperature than other processors
Intel Celeron M 340 (1.5-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
Intel Celeron M 330 (1.4-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB

And you are limted to 2gb of ram max on this model.

I wish to upgarde to the fasted CPU possible for my motherboard

More importantly RAM will give you better performance, if your computer is low on ram it doesn't matter much what the cpu is.

you can put up to 4GB of ram into it
4 x 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMM socket support up to 4 GB
Support DDR400/333/266 unbuffered DDR SDRAM

here is a list of supported CPU's
http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Support/CPU_Support_Model.aspx?detailid=493&MenuID=69&LanID=0

I think any of the dual cores on that page will be a OK upgrade.

So if you upgrade your ram to 2GB and a Dual core 4800+ that should be good. but in the long run it might be smarter to upgrade to a new motherboard and even faster cpu, with DDR 2 memory, the memory ddr2 is really cheap these days.

E8400 or Q6600

personally i have the q6600 which is a quad core processor, all the others you listed were dual core, personally i use alot of programs all at once which is good if you have a quad core, but just for general music, data, and streaming, the e8400 is probably better for you, its a 3ghz processor.

Sony Vaio VGN CR-220E

Haha!

I had such dreams too with one of my old Vaio. I really wanted to upgrade the processor and graphic chipset. Turns out that the latter is impossible (it was soldered to the motherboard - it wasn't a graphics card, just an all-in-one chip), as for the processor I was able to take it out but I ran into several problems:
1) vaio added electronic components to the motherboard that made higher CPU speeds unachievable even if the motherboard's cipset (VIA) was able to do that.
2) the cpu maker (AMD in my case) kept telling me that their mobile cpu were custom designed for that specific laptop, so new cpu would be incompatible. Also mobile CPUs are, apparently, only sold to laptop makers, unlike OEMs... (eBay but at ur own risk!).
3) When buying a new CPU, u need to check factors such as the number of pins (mobile cpu are much smaller), voltage, current, wattage and heat dissipation (very important, ur current heat sink was designed for ur current cpu).

But maybe things have changed now. In my case, I could only upgrade the RAM and the hard-drive to larger and faster versions, and the difference was quite significant difference. Faster booting and better internet experience.

Cpu enquiry

There really is no difference, there are differences in the E numbers though. Those are specificallt about it's GHz's, it L1 and L2 cache.

Though Intel Core 2 Duo is the same as Intel Dual Core. It's just a different name. This confusion is caused because of Intel changing the names of it's processors series. The Pentium brandname for example is gone. Intel Pentium Dual Core is now called Intel Core 2 Duo.

I hope this answered your question.

Greetings,

DarkNeogen.
