Used last season for a couple of months & ran great. Followed instructions for storage when we closed the pool & cleaned system as directed. Hooked it up and I'm getting the service light & high salt. Works for about 2 minutes then both lights go off. There cannot be High Salt because we didn't put in as much salt as we did last season becuase we felt it was way too much, so scaled it down this year. HELP! I'm about to go back to a chlorine pool!

You have about 8588 gallons of water in your pool ... One inch of water contains about 159 gallons in your pool. You should consider a 6 hour turn over rate. I recommend a high rate sand filter with at a minimum 1.5 sq feet of filter area. You need to move about 24 gallons a minute to achieve the 6 hour turn over rate.

SOURCE: I have the Intex Above
Shock the pool with 4 gallons of muratic acid if its a 28,000 gallon pool. Normally that would be a 26 foot wide by 4 feet deep

You should always follow the instructions on the manual .. I have a 18X33X4 oval and had to start with over 350 lbs of salt and ran the pump without the chlorinator for 24 hours to properly disolve the salt. Then, I started with 12 hrs pump cycle with 10 hrs of chlorination in between the 12 hrs. Keep checking the chlorine level and adjust time from there. Currently at temperatures of 85 to 100, I run the system at 10 hrs pump with 8 hrs chrlorinator and water is Crystal Clear... In the 2 years with the intex system, I have not added any chemicals to my pool. I once had an issue when the water level went low while I was on vacation, when I came back, the chrolinator had turned off due to low flow and my pool water was green.. As soon as I re-started the cycle, a few days later, Crystal Clear again... NO CHEMICALS OR SHOCK added.... Hope this helps....

I got a low salt warning when the cell became coated with calcium,
you can look at the cell and see the stuff. I live in Austin which sits on mostly limestone. The chlorine level will keep dropping as the cell becomes more and more coated. I removed the unit, capped the copper cell end (cap came with the pool, but you can use the hose and a plastic bag) stood it up against a wall and immersed the cells in 5% white vinegar. It will bubble for a few hours, then rinse and reinstall.
