I bought some used Nortel Venture 3-line phones. They're great but I can't get rid of this message that appears on the LCD screen that also causes the red notification light to be on. I've gone thru the manual carefully and all it offers is to enter the Telco code for turning off the feature such as voice mail service. The seller said that he never used any such services. Is there a way to reset everything not just the options? Thanks!

Called GE. Here's what's happening (at least with my phone). I use VONAGE as a carrier. VONAGE's package includes voicemail. I have my VONAGE voicemail account set up to take any call that comes in if the answering machine on my GE phone does not pick up -- for instance if I'm on the phone and I do not "flash" over to the incoming call, that caller will eventually be sent to my VONAGE voicemail where they can leave a message. (Otherwise I would either take the call, or, if not already in use, the GE phone/answering system would simpy take the message.) This GE phone is commucating with my VONAGE account and letting me know that I have a mesage in my VONAGE account voicemail. All I have to do is either go online and delete the messages (after listening to them of course) and refresh the page. Once the messsages are deleted, the carrier lets my phone know the messages are gone and the NEW VOICE MAIL prompt on the handset disappears. I suppose I can do it by listening to the messages by calling in and deleting through the touch pad on the phone as well.

Hi, I have the same problem. I called the service provider, they left a voice message, which I accessed later and deleted from my voicemail box. This took care of it and I dont have that message on the screen now. I think you can just leave yourself a voice message and access it later and delete it. That should resolve it.

the top left button on the phone is for the night service on my phone...not sure if the same button would be for you...i simply hit this button upon leaving for the day and then hit the button when I come in in the morning.

Nortel Networks is intentionally deceitful in their manual (forcing you to call them for assistance that you must pay for). While they say to use Feature 84/Line Direction for calls to an external line, this will not work. (Even when the phone tells you that all calls have been redirected.) Rather, use Feature 4/Call Forward. In the manual it says this is for other lines within the system, but it will work for an external line.
