C875 lens won't retract

Lens won't retract. when I turn it on, sound chimes, screen turns on, blue and green light flashes 9-10 times, len tries to retract, then camera turns off.

Tried many new rechargable batteries but same problem. Lens sometimes comes out when turned on but will immediately retract if it even does come out.

I have the same problem. The lens is out and it won't go in. I have purchased new batteries, various batterys from digital camera batteries even Kodak brand. It doesn't work! My next plan is to see if maybe the camera needs to go on a charger or something. Let me know if you figure out something [email protected]

Camera (with new rechargable batteries) won't let the lens come out or if it does it instantly retracts.

Turns on for 1/2 second and turns off

It sounds like the focus element inside the lens is stuck. This is usually either due to an impact knocking the elements out of alignment, or to sand/debris entering the focus motor's gear drive and preventing it from rotating. The buzzing sound you hear is the focus motor attempting to rotate, but buzzing up against some obstruction. When the lens extends, you hear a buzzing sound, and then the lens retracts - this is usually the cause of the issue. Unfortunately there is not much you can do externally to fix this problem. The camera will need to be taken apart and repaired by a professional or by the manufacturer. David Millier http://advancecamera.com/repair

Kodak easyshare dx4530 turns on then off

Hi there.

90 percent of the time when the lens malfunctions, it's due to grit or dirt in the lens mechanism. If you stored your camera in a camera bag, while you used the other camera, that could be your problem. Camera bags are great for holding dirt so it can get in your camera.
When the lens can't move, it may cause the camera to shut down. To fix this, use an air compressor. Put the nozzle to the camera and blow air into the space between the camera and the lens. Blow it out real good and try it again. You may have to repeat the process a couple of times. Hope this helps.

Camera won't turn on - makes strange sound

This is a very common issue with digital camera on either the lens gears have to be replaced or the lens barrel need replacing. I rebuild these lenses all the time for 75.00 plus shipping and the turn around is normally less then a week. if you still need help fell free to contact me at [email protected]

Camera lens does not retract & view finder is just blue, will not go to other screens

The lens maybe out of track. Perhaps you have bumped the camera or dropped it. Look if the lens are a bit tilted, if so, try straighten the lens with your fingers, very gently. Hope it works.

Kodak Z1285 Won't Turn On?

HAd exactly the same issue! You turn on the camera, lense comes out then the screen goes black (turns off)
The blue light stays on and the only way to get it to turn off is to take out the batteries.

Next time you turn on the device, the blue light comes on and the green led flashes, sometimes it powers down and other times the blue light stays on but you have no screen still. The lense stays out.

I tried the "tap" it approach and it now works fine! My suggestion has always been, if it don't work, kick it!! why didn't I try this with this camera firstly instead of trying all sorts of different button combinations to see if there was some sort of hard reset for it?

Thanks for the advice everyone and happy snapping!! :)

Problem with i531

I had a Polaroid i531 that would beep 3 times then shut down & the lens wouldn't retract.

I fixed it like this:
  1. Inspect the lens from all angles and you'll see that the lens assembly is out of sync. (My was looking upward ever so slightly)
  2. Using gentle finger pressure, press in the opposite direction of the abnormal lens direction
  3. I heard a snap, then I powered the camera on.
  4. Camera now works.
