SOURCE: lexmark x6650 will not identify new cartridges

Please contact Lexmark Technical Support and let them know that you need two replacement cartridges for the two defective ones you have.

Make sure that you purchased factory new Lexmark cartridges, not cartridges that have been refilled and repackaged by a third party company.

I would try cleaning the metal carriage, also clean the cartridge contacts behind the cartridge. (let dry) Please turn printer off before servicing.

    SOURCE: I have a Lexmark X6650. Page 1 will not print

    I suggest you uninstall the Lexmark software by clicking on the Windows logo Start menu > Programs > Lexmark 6600 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Then, restart pc. If you're connected via the USB cable, unplug the Lexmark printer from your computer. Once pc is on, check if your Vista is running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by clicking on the Windows logo Start menu > right click on Computer > Properties. To reinstall, I recommend you use the updated driver from the Lexmark website. For the driver, just click on this link: http://bit.ly/bABYA9 (for 32-bit) or this link: http://bit.ly/bYPUEK (for 64-bit). Download and install the software. Follow the instructions. Hope the helps.     1. Remove the print cartridges, and close the cartridge carrier lids.
    2. Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.
    3. Reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet.
    4. If the button_power_0.jpg button is not lit, press button_power_0.jpg.
    5. Reinsert the print cartridges.
    If the error does not reappear, the problem has been corrected.
    If the problem reappears, one of the cartridges is not working properly. Continue with the following procedure to determine which cartridge is not working properly.
    1. Remove the print cartridges, and close the cartridge carrier lids.
    2. Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.
    3. Reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet.
    4. If the button_power_0.jpg button is not lit, press button_power_0.jpg.
    5. Reinsert the black (or photo) print cartridge.
    6. If the error:
      • Reappears, replace the black (or photo) print cartridge with a new one.
      • Does not reappear, reinsert the color print cartridge.
    7. If the error reappears, replace the color print cartridge with a new one.

    Keep getting a carrier jam on my lexmark x6650

    Try to open the printer cover and remove the cartridges. While the cover is open, check for a transparent strip(encoder strip) that may gotten unseated from its position. If transparent strip is still in position behind the cartridge carrier assembly, check the carrier path and make sure there are no debris or obstructions along its path.

    This sounds like a driver issue. Try to uninstall your X6650 printer driver from your computer (follow steps in this article: How to Uninstall Lexmark Printers). Restart your computer when prompted. Next, check if your Windows 7 is running on 32-bit or 64-bit System Type by clicking on Start menu (on your computer) -> Computer -> Properties. Take note of the System Type. Then, download the printer driver using the one of the links below (whichever is compatible with your system):

    New out of box lexmark x6650 and would not

    Is this a printer you just purchased or is it one that has sat around in storage?

    You could take a clean damp cloth (lint free) and wipe the contacts on the cartridge to see if that helps or, if it were me, I'd call Lexmark and tell them to send you a new printer because the one you have, failed out of box.

    Is it possible to refill ink cartridge on Lexmark x6690 printer?

    Take out all cartridges, switch printer off and then on again and let printer see that there are no cartridges. Do this 5 times, it resets the cartridges. Then install refilled cartridges
