Will your laptop work properly with an external mouse? If so, check your touchpad settings in "Control Panel" by selecting "Mouse". Here you can reassign your Buttons. Try setting your Right Button function to "Double Click". If the "Double Click" function works on your Right Button then chances are you have a problem with your Touchpad Assembly which means it will have to be replaced. Dell refers to it as a "Palmrest" which they will replace if still under warranty.

Just above my keyboard there is a little black strip with little lights.
they are control buttons and if you tap one of them it turns the touchpad off and on (so it's very easy to do accidentally).

If you look really closely at the strip in good light (or restart the laptop to see them flash on and off) you'll see that one looks like a touchpad crossed out. Just press this to get your touchpad back.

If it doesnt solve the problem, I have noticed that the touchpad can be knocked out by a Window Update of something called ideacom. If you believe this could be the problem please clarify.

If u are having Synaptics Driver....then
check that Tapping is enabled...

follow steps to know that:
Open Control Panel..
Now Open Mouse
Now click on tab "Device Settings"
then Click on "Settings"
a new window popups
Click on "Tapping" which is listed on the corner of the window
Now after clicking on it...on the right...check that there is "Tapping Enabled or not"
if not...click on that White box...
and Apply
then ok

Work my Quantary touch pad

Have you tried an external mouse to ensure that the pointer works?
Usually these problems are due to either a defective pad driver or a history of a spilled liquid contaminating of the contacts, or a settings issue (i.e. touchpad is turned off). Hve you trued any of these obvious problem areas?

Please provide a few more details such as Win OS version, TouchPad driver version, etc.

My mouse touchpad stopped working all of a sudden. I have also enabled the synaptics touch pad in device settings in the control panel. after doing all these also my touch pad is not working.

Check the keyboard it's possible the touchpad has been deactivated. You can toggle fn keys (fn + f2) or any fn key that has touchpad drawn on it. If this doesn't help. Am afraid the touch pad connector has to be checked & replaced in computer repair shop

Hello My HP G60 549DX touchpad started having problems, while the laptop is charging the touchpad wont work(sometimes, not always) and the touch click wont work, i have to use the right click...

It isn't likely that your laptop charger is the problem and it is more likely that is is just your touch pad. So you shouldn't buy a new laptop charger unless you absolutely think you have to. If you do, make sure that you buy it from HP instead of a third party for a lower chance of problems. It's more likely that it's just your touch pad that is faulty.
