SOURCE: mouse touch pad problem Lenovo Y410 model notebook

Just above my keyboard there is a little black strip with little lights.
they are control buttons and if you tap one of them it turns the touchpad off and on (so it's very easy to do accidentally).

If you look really closely at the strip in good light (or restart the laptop to see them flash on and off) you'll see that one looks like a touchpad crossed out. Just press this to get your touchpad back.

If it doesnt solve the problem, I have noticed that the touchpad can be knocked out by a Window Update of something called ideacom. If you believe this could be the problem please clarify.

SOURCE: my touchpad mouse won't work. it does not respond

If you are using XP, check your mouse settings under Control Panel. Make sure that your Touch Pad is enabled. If it is but it still won't work, have a mouse plugged into a USB port that will work correctly. Then download the latest driver from the Acer site for your touchpad. Uninstall the driver that is currently being used by your system. Then install the updated driver that you downloaded. This should allow you to use your Touch Pad. If not, you may have to take your laptop in for servicing.

Mouse doesn't work. touchpad works fine. lenovo G470

LOL, go into the mouse and touch pad properties and make sure you don't have the mouse disabled or blocked.

Does the point work from the touchpad when you have the usb mouse plugged in? If not you have the mouse pointer disabled. There might be a button at the top of the touch pad in the middle that you press to toggle the mouse pointer. There could also be a set of keystrokes you hit to toggle the mouse. For example I just worked on one last week where you had to Press and Hold the Alt key then hit the F6 key. Function Key F6 had the icon of a finger inside a square which represented the touchpad.

Click Start/Control Panel and look at the mouse and touchpad properties. There may be settings where you can disable one if the other is present.

Mouse Sensitivity Issue

If your laptop is Vista, this page should have a download for a Vista touchpad driver:

http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/lenovo/drivers/2412/50.html

If it's an XP laptop, try this link:

http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/lenovo/drivers/2412/313.html

If one of them works, let me know which one and rate appropriately. If neither of them do, we'll try something else.

Thanks.
