Same here. With suggested 1.21 it works, but with 1.61 and 1.71 it stucks at Loading... screen.
Funny thing is that with English-1.20 it works for say two days and suddenly the SD card is wiped or filesystem is corrupted.
Using R4 Deluxe that supports SDHC upto 32GB (according to box) with kingston 4GB microSD.

My R4 just says 'loading' when in DS. I put micro SD in PC, it shows 'full' but no files exist, no system, moon etc etc, or the games. I cant take anything off - as no files listed?! But cant load games on as 'card full' Any suggestions? I seems to be corrupt beyond help..

You should check if the R4 card is actually R4 SDHC, because the firmware of R4DS is not compatible with it. If it is SDHC, go to this website to download the firmware for your card. If there are any roms on it, you should save them somewhere else, for you have to format the card first (do this in windows by going to 'this computer', then right-clicking on the SD card from your R4 and then select 'format'. Warning! Never select 'quick format'! This could do damage). Now your card is completely empty. Copy the files you just downloaded and unzipped to the card (5 files; _system_, moonshl, _DS_MENU.DAT, _DS_MENU.INI and _DS_MSHL.NDS). Now put the SD card in the R4 and it should work properly :) I had the same problem, and I have just solved it *grin*. I hope this was useful.

It could be just a glitch, try taking it out and placing it back in , maybe it just might be damaged inside, try getting another one if you can if that one works it means that the other one that gets stuck on the loading it means its damaged, Hope I helped!

1) have you put all the firmware on? you get this from the r4ds website - without this the card will stick on loading

2) you have got a normal micro sd right? theres a type of sd called sdhc (usually 4gb and above) and the r4 doesnt support it

3) try moving ALL games and non firmware files off the card, if it still doesnt boot ...

4) reformat the card and reload the firmware

failing all that your r4 might be faulty. keep trying, they are a pain but its worth it

DS R4 card keeps freezing-- help!?

Hell Xin,

It seems like you got the R4 SDHC, but not the original one I'm afraid. The original one is from, and it is a better supported product.

You could try reformatting your micro sd card and see if that's unstable, but if not I'd recommend getting a new R4. If you do suspect that you have unstable fake clone version you can get a genuine card there too. I managed to find this site after I got burned at a few others.

Loved having my emails responded to because I had loads of questions, and they were quick to ship it. They test each card before sending them. US based support and shipping I believe.

Best of luck!

R4 card getting stuck at "loading"

it is probably because your sister has a different version of R4. They are the same things, but your sister might have an earlier version than you do. This is because, some versions dont work with some ds lites while others do.

My ds keeps saying loading when i insert r4 card

Make sure you have the correct kernel loaded onto the card. Also some r4 cards only accept up to a limited amount of gb's. I think mine only can hold up to a 2gb sd micro card. When I first used it I was using a 4gb card and it would stick on the loading screen until I loaded everything onto a 2gb card .... hope this helps
