Excell vr2522 with Honda GVC160 engine. Can't turn engine. Pull cord very hard, as if engine was jammed. Removed pull cord assembly, it turns fine. Was able to turn engine without the pull cord assembly, but it's still too hard to turn. Oil level is full, gas tank is full, gas tank drained, cleaned and refilled. What's wrong?
Is the garden hose connected and turned on?If so make sure that the trigger on the gun is being pulled while your trying to start the engine! The backed up pressure in the high pressure hose can mimic a blown or seized engine in this situation.

Have a helper hold the trigger of the wand open while you try it again. If it starts that way you have a sticky unloader valve in the pump. DO NOT RELEASE the trigger for more than 10 seconds if the engine continues to strain when released! If the engine doesnt run freely when you let go of the trigger, pull it again and shut down the unit!
Add some power steering fluid to your supply hose (about 3 or 4 ounces at a time) and restart the unit with the trigger pulled. Allow the oil to flow through the pump for 1 - 2 minutes for each treatment. Several treatments should make the pump and valve happy again.

That engine requires a separate gas and oil. There is an oil sump with oil level needle and cap on the side of the engine. This is where you fill it with special pressure washer pump oil available from any good outdoor store or place where pressure washers are sold. As for gas, Unleaded or Premium unleaded gas will work fine. Try not to use any fuel with ethanol blends however. try to tap on the recoil cover to see if the rope returns,remove recoil cover if that doesnt work. What type engine and pump? The type of oil used in which the engine or the pump both should be listed in either the documentation you recieved at purchase or online.
