I loaded my duet washer, closed the door and the control light is stuck on and it won't start any cycle. Can you help? I did unplug the washer but it won't reset.
Try holding in the "End of Cycle"tone button
Yes i second that , if you hold The end cycle down for 3 seconds everything will startworking again !!!!!
Worked for me too :) thanks.
Ok first things first. I am not a Whirlpool technician. However we have 4 young children 2 of which are 12 and 11 who are in charge of laundry. Our Duet goes down quit often (about 3 times a year).
The first time it went down the machine would not drain. It would fill fine and wash but wouldn't drain.
I fixed this problem by... Directly underneath the washer drum on the outside of the unit. There is a cover. If your washer does not set on a pedestal then you'll have to prop the washer up about 3 inches. There are 3 screws along the bottom which are 5 point star head. Unscrew them and pull the cover off. Directly in front you'll see the drain hose the drain pump and a very large plastic valve. All in one assembly. I unscrewed the large valve and to my avail it wasn't a valve at all. It was a drain filter that I unscrewed and sure enough there was a small sock and a couple really small toys blocking the drain pump. I cleaned it out and it worked great for a bout a year.
Then I got the dreaded "Control Locked" error.
I tried everything even the above, the drain assembly did have junk in it so I thought that was it. It wasn't. Being a month behind on the mortgage and the cable bill first thing I thought was. Darn it I can't afford this. So off to the Whirlpool website I went to the tech section and found my solution.
What the tech help instructed me to do was to take the top of the washer off via 3 screws on the top back. (same 5 star heads) After you get the top off you'll see the CCU (Central Control Unit) It will have many wires with plugs on the end of them that plug into the CCU. This is were all the switches and front LED assembly are kept. There is 3 plugs on the Left side. Not front left but around the side on the left. The middle one which controls the Front LED and Front Control needs to be unplugged for about 2 seconds or more, with the power cord UNPLUGGED. Plug the Plug back in then put the power cord back into the wall socket. All should be well.
What happened to me is the CCU overloaded because it couldn't drain properly.
Either way Unplugging the CCU is like rebooting a computer. It should reset and clear all errors.
I kept this tutorial very basic so everyone can understand
I hope this helps everyone
In regards to all that was said following the lint cleanout followed by the Control lock 3 second reset and failing that disconnecting the control for the Front LED, these were great ideas and apparently worked for many. But not for me. However, all these solutions indicated that once the control "tilted" as a result of a lint tray problem, a serious Reset was in order.
We had a small alcohol tampon pad still in it's packaging (used by nurses to disinfect) in the lint tray. Therefore, under certain draining cercumstances whether with washing, spinning or rinsing operations, this completely clogged the hole. So, I'm led to believe the vacuum control was likely the one that tilted. Hence, I also had to disconnect the connector to a small round plastic device located at the back of the washer, top right. It's the device that has a hose, likelly a vacuum hose going down to the drain assembly. After resetting that in addition to doing all the above, it went fine.
Thanks for all who contributed to cueing me in the right direction.

I read the words hold button for 3 seconds ( clearly printed on my machine ) to lock/unlock control located below end cycle button.
PierreDeMung,
Bravo! I've owned this machine for six years and saw that printed below the button and never paid attention to it, even AFTER the machine locked up and wouldn't work. Thanks for pointing out the fact that it's printed ON the front of the control panel! My wife and I felt appropriately foolish! :-)
Yes, it is printed there but i never had cause to now what it was for until now...any lockups I've had before were fixed by the good old unplug /reboot until now. Remember the old addage "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me"

Bless this web site, I was freaking out when I saw the control lock light on. My husband just cleaned out the drain last nite and I was cursing him for doing something to my machine. But it is all fine now. THANKS
Saved all the time of disassembling by pushing the end key. What a relief. If it happens again I will consider the above mentioned solution. Thank you for the insight!

SOURCE: whirlpool duet washer ghw9250mw1 door won't close ...
1. Unplug washer.
2. Remove the outer portion of the door bellow. This is the gray rubber boot around the door. Feel around the edge of the door bellow where it attaches to the front of the washer. You will find a wire retaining hoop in the seam between the rubber and the front case. Follow this wire hoop to the bottom of the door bellow and you will find a tension spring. Carefully, stretch this spring apart and remove the wire hoop.
3. Pull the rubber bellow from the door facing on the front of the washer being careful not to rip or tear it. Once removed, fold the rubber backwards inside the drum so you can access behind the front panel. DO NOT remove the rubber bellow from the wash tub.
4. The door latch assembly is located behind the front panel of the washer on the right hand side. Locate and remove the three screws on the washer front that hold the door latch assembly in place. The whole assembly should come free from the washer front and be held by a plastic mounting bracket and several wire connectors.
5. Carefully remove the latch assembly from the plastic mounting bracket BEFORE attempting to unplug any wires. It makes it much easier to access if you do.
6. Unplug the wire connectors using care not to break any of the wires. You may want to write them down, but I believe they will only plug into their respective slots.
7. Remove the old door latch and install the new one in the reverse order of the steps I just presented to you. Plug the wires back in first, then place the whole assembly back into the plastic mounting bracket, and then reattach to the front of the washer.
8. Now, when you get the reinstalling the rubber door boot, you may want to get the assistance of a second pair of hands as it can be difficult sometimes to manipulate the wire retainer back into place. Carefully reattach the rubber bellow to the door facing on the front of the washer first.
9. Starting at the top of the door bellow at the 12 o'clock position begin inserting the wire hoop back into the groove. Work your way around with both hands to the 4 and 8 o'clock positions. (This is where you could use those second pair of hands). While holding a slight downward tension on the wire hoop to keep it in place, pull the tension spring apart enough to snap the remaining part of the hoop into place at the bottom. Once you've completed these steps make sure the door closes and latches properly. NEVER slam a door with an electronic latch. They can break easily.
Now plug the washer back in and test operate. NOTE: You can run diagnostics on these washers by referring to the tech sheet provided by the manufacturer. The tech sheet is located behind the lower panel under the door, or along the interior cabinet walls. Included, are instructions on how to run diagnostics and troubleshooting tips associated with the list of fault codes. It is recommended that this tech sheet remain inside the washer to prevent it from being lost.

SOURCE: Duet Front load Washer - will not start cycle.
Does your front washer, every time you press cancel give you a code that looks similiar to ER?
I checked the description and for some reason whirlpool denies having a F22 code on the Duet, but that doesn't mean much.
I am suspecting several things.
1. Electrical supply may have had a surge at one point or another. You may have to ask your electrical company to put a surge protector on your house by the meter. This is not to protect everything it has its own limits!
2. Unplug the machine for a while. Turn off the water supply and disconnect hoses The machine knows if there is water coming into the machine by a trip sensor.
3. drain out your exhaust line. There is a possiblity your machine thinks you are full of water when it is actually empty.
4 put everything back on, and then plug machine back in after about an hour or so. If it still doesn't work, it is time for your local appliance repair service technician to come out. He will check door trip sensor, and a few other areas that may be acting up.
Good luck.

control lock light ? have you got any blockages or dirty filters you may have to clean them.
SOURCE: whirlpool duet washer: cycle light blinks, won't run
It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.
For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...
FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.
PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.
If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.
If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.
