New battery, new Ac adapter, but green battery icon flickers on screen as if it's trying to charge a fully charged battery. Screen goes from light to dark. Condition can be improved by switching to different power mode but then reoccurs. Any suggestions? Driver problem? Bios? Battery bad? Any guesses?

Could be a couple of things. First off, I would try shutting the laptop off entirely, removing the AC Adapter and battery from the bottom of the unit and pressing the power button down for about 20 seconds with all devices removed, and plugging everything back in and turning it on again. Should this not work, again remove power and battery, and if you're familiar with the process, removing the RAM as well, then plugging the power back in and try turning it on, see if you can get the computer to emit a POST error beep. If you do get the beep, then it could very well be a faulty stick of RAM, which is easy enough to replace. If you don't get the beep, but the unit still powers on, then there' smore than likely a problem with the motherboard in the laptop. If that's the case, then check with either Acer Technical Support via phone or web, or with the place where you bought the computer and see if you're still within some kind of warranty, and if you are, you can get it serviced through them. If not, motherboard repairs can be very costly (parts and labour will probably run about $400-600USD). RAM modules though like I mentioned before are quite inexpensive and simple enough to replace.

Any one component could be stopping this to boot. I would seriously contemplate pointing this at the bin. A replacement motherboard would be the cost of a new laptop, also if you do not have manufaturers training or a technical manual you may literally destroy the laptop taking it apart, and or if you do change the motherboard, without specific antistatic equipment you may zap that too. It might not be the motherboard at fault either............

Hello,
Thsi problem arise when you have a bad BIOS version. Normally, you should update the BIOS with the latest version. go to www.acersupport.com and download a latest BIOS together with the flash tool. you should be able to charge the battery normally.
