  • Loosen the fuel cap, press the bulb about 10 times, replace the cap, put on choke and go. But make sure the spark plug is dry. Without the plug in, you can pull the rope a time or two in order to help dry it out in there.

Similar experience with the same blower. I cleaned the carb checked for spark but I still can't get it to start

  • Anonymous Nov 15, 2008

It did this a few months ago and I found that the cylinder head was loose from vibration. I tightened it and it started right up. But now I'm having issues again. Cylinder head seems tight but I will need to tear the whole thing apart again to see what is going on. Doesn't seem like there very much compression. when I cover the spark plug hole I feel a little pressure but I would have thought it should be a lot more.

Gas lawnmower doesn't start after so many cranking. i checked the spark plug and replaced it, I also check for fuel , all looks fine. This lawnmower is only 1 yr old.=

Make sure that the gasoline if new. You can spray a small amount of starting fluid into the carb to help start the motor. Make sure that you turn the switch to the run position.

My 2 yr. old Poulan Pro BVM200FE blower won't start. It will turn over a few times after 3-4 pulls then nothing.

replace the spark plug, make sure the air filter is clean, make sure it has fresh fuel. if it still wont start. give a shot of carburetor cleaner straight in the carburetor it should start and run for a few seconds. if it does. the carburetor needs to be cleaned. hope this fixes your problem, good luck

You need three things. Spark, compression and fuel. Pull the spark plug and make sure it is not fouled and you have spark when cranking. Put your finger over the spark plug hole and feel for compression while pulling the engine over. There is a reed valve between carb and block that clogs and prevents fuel from getting to cylinder.

Poulon pro bvm210vs will not start

This is back to basics, does it have a good spark when the engine is rotated with the plug out? if no replace the plug and try again if yes, does the plug get wet with fuel?if no replace the filter in the tank and try again, if yes is the plug soaked with fuel? if yes check the fuel inlet needle in the carb which maybe causing flooding, if no, is the spark occuring in the correct place, to check this remove the flywheel and check the key has not sheared, if the key is ok, it may be an air leak through a gasket or crank seal.

Craftsman gas leaf blower will not start. Spark and gas lines ok. Not getting gas to plug even after prime and several pulls. How do I find gas supply problem. Diaphram in carb looks ok .It actually...

Basics to check:
1) Spark plug - brown or dark brown - OK
a) is it carbon or fuel fouled
b) is there spark

2) Muffler remove for inspection
a) exhaust screen clean or plugged
b) inspect cylinder wall/piston as the flywheel is slowly rotated
3) Check cylinder compression

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
6) replace gaskets/diaphragms
a) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb
b) fuel pump diaphragm goes against the carb body,
then the gasket towards the outside
c) metering gasket goes against the carb body,
and the diaphragm goes towards the outside

Ran great sat. but would not start sun. same gas changed plug air filter gas soaked with it off still not running tried putting gas in spark plug hole still not running this is a craftmans 2 cycle leaf...

Were you running a fuel mixture of 40:1(3.2 oz of 2 cycle oil to 1 gal of gas), that you mixed up before you started using it again. The unit may have had to much use on Saturday and may be burned up. Try to have a compression test done on the engine, needs to be at least 100 psi to run. If that proves to be good then you can start looking at Fresh gas mixture, a new spark plug, Carburetor rebuild or an ignition module.

I have a craftman yard vac with a tecmseh 4.5. She has failed to

Hi gr2954;

Lots of the starting problems with 2 cycle engines (weed eaters, blowers, chain saws, etc) are caused by leaving them stored for long periods of time with the oil/gas mixture left in them. what happens is that a residue forms on parts in the carb.

Try the following: empty the fresh gas out of the blower. add a gas stabilizer to the existing gas you plan to put in the blower. You can get this stabilizer at any auto parts store. While you are there get a can of spray start fluid. Put the fresh, modified gas in the blower. Take the spark out and spray some starter fluid in the plug hole.Replace the spark plug and try to start the engine. It will probably take a few cycles of doing this to get the blower to stay running.
when you put the blower up for a long period, empty the remaining gas out then start the engine and run it till it stops. this gets the remaining gas out of the carb.
