Problems getting Quantaray AF 70-300mm lens to work with Canon xt

I have a Quantaray AF Tech 10 lens I had used with my Canon Rebel G and was told that I could use it with my Canon Rebel XT. When I try to use it, it won't let me do anything with it. The camera says err 99 and locks up on me. I've spoke with Quantaray's support and they said it should work with the Canon XT and to talk with Canon. I've spoke with Canon and they said there is a communication error. Can anyone help me? Is there somewhere that can update the software in the lens or anything I could get to correct this problem?

Sigma just told me the lens is too old and there is no update for the lens.

Is the Quantaray Tech-10 70-300 compatable to the Canon REbel T21

Quantaray makes their lenses with a variety of mounts. If the lens has a Canon mount then it will work with a Canon Rebel T2i. If it has a Nikon mount then it will not.

I purchased a Quantaray Autofocus Lens/Manualfocus lens 28-80mm F3.5-5.6 For Canon AF. Exactly what camera does it work on. I have a Canon Rebel XT 350D and it gives me Err 99 message....so I assume this...

Hard to say without more info.

Is the lens just bought new? If not, it likely is 'chipped' for the Canon AF film cameras. I do not recall if Quantaray rechips their lenses. I believe Sigma does theirs, but not sure about Q~. If you got the paperwork with the lens, contact a repair center or Quantaray.
Contact US1 Photo at 877-300-8070. they are a Quantaray dealer. Ask for the number to the distributor, warranty repair facility and for the number of the quantaray home office. One of them should help you get the right lens.

Quantaray lenses

I bet they are not AF lenses. There are adapters that add the AF contacts to "fool" the camera but increase the zoom. You can get used lenses from many "on line" camera stores with warranties for a few months.

Aperture wont adjust on my canon rebel xt

If it's an older lens, for EOS film cameras, Quantaray might upgrade it free - contact your local Ritz Camera store ( it's imported by Ritz ) or find a repair center for Quantaray online.

Canon rebel xt error messages

I have the same problem. So far I've contacted Sigma (I believe this is the company that manufacturers the Quantaray lens for Ritz) and they requested I send them a photo of the lens. I just googled sigma lens to find sigma support. I will update you all with any response I may get.

It doesn't work with my digital camara

Some of the early Quantaray lenses, designed for the EOS film cameras, need to be upgraded by Quantaray. Contact your local Ritz Camera, or go to their support page online to find out if an upgrade chip is available for your particular lens, so it can be used with a digital EOS
