MICROTEK C997SD MONITOR SHUTS OFF AFTER 5-10 MINUTES

When I turn on my computor the monitor comes on and I can see everything on my desktop but after about 5-10 minutes the monitor shuts off. I push the power button on the monitor and the screen shows again but after a short minute it shuts off . If I restart the computor it will stay on longer but it still shuts off.

If you turn your monitor on and when its on you go into your computers settings. Where you can fix your monitor and fix the resolution and all that. There should be a thing there where you can put never shut off. You have it on 5 to 10 minutes to shut off. That will keep the monitor from turning off again. I did this with mine it kept shutting off to. Thanks for posting I hope this helps you. I am sorry I couldn't be more detailed. i have been up all night lol.

SOURCE: monitor makes popping noise when power is on.

It sounds like you might have blown out a capacitor, located in the heart of the monitor circuitry.  WARNING: do not attempt to access this yourself due to the high likelyhood of electrocution to you and others around you.  You'll be fried faster than a piece of chicken from KFC.Step 1.  If you decide to disregard this warning, wear protective eyewear and do not stand in a puddle of water while working on your monitor.Step 2.  Before beginning circuit repair, unplug your monitor from the outlet and let it sit for at least 75 days to give time for all stored electricity to drain out.Step 3. Using a trial and error method, guess which capacitor is working improperly and replace it.Once repairs are complete, plug your monitor back in and see if its working correctly.  If not, repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 until it does.Hope this helps.- The Fixfox

Check the power setting of your PC.

  • If you are on windows;
  • Click on start button
  • If you have vista or windows 7, type "poweroptions" into the search bar.
If not, open control panel and find the power options inthere
  • In "power options" you can change when the displaygets turned off and when your PC will go to sleep, just change these settingsto the time you want, e.g. 2hours
I can offer support for other OS if required

Sounds like the computer is shutting it down and the monitor is fine. Check for viruses then check your settings in device manager for the screen saver and power down (screen off) options.

Picture and video is not clear

Hi Scandle201
Yot have done every thing right on your side. You will unfortunetly have to take the monitor back to the repair shop. Ask them to test it at your resolution settings of your home desktop and play some video's and open some pictures on there test system.
