A blanket stitch is traditionally done with a large needle and wool to a folded edge of fabric and is often done about 1cm wide, most sewing machines can't swing the needle this wide or take the heavy gauge thread you need for the blanket stitch effect, its a hand done thing.

I have a husqvarna tribute 140c and wondering if 5his machine has a blanket stitch?

It looks like there are a few stitches among the quilting stitches (Row 2) that are blanket stitches; these are all stitches with a stitch to the left and a line of straight stitch. Stitch patterns 16, 17, and 18 are the ones to check out. Stitch 17 might be closer to the look of a hand-sewn blanket stitch. Stitch 16 has two straight stitches for every stitch to the left. Stitch 18 has a one to one ratio of stitches to the left for every stitch to the left.

You can see the stitches available on the Husqvarna Tribute 140C on the product page: http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/en-US/Machines/TRIBUTE-140C . The direct link to the list is here: http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/SiteMedia/Products/Machines/Stitches/Tribute_140C_stitch_overview_EN.pdf?ext=.pdf . These stitches are also shown starting on page 44 of the manual, http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/getattachment/Machines/TRIBUTE-140C/Tribute_140C_manual_EN_B.pdf.aspx .

I hope this helps.

How do I setup Bernina virtuoso 150 to do blanket stitch

Check your machine's stitch options. A lot of older Bernina machines do not have a blanket stitch option. Although, you may find another stitch that will work.

I have a 1080 special, how do I do the Blanket stich? Thank you

Unfortunately, a lot of older Bernina machines did not have a blanket stitch. Am unable to find much info on your machine, but if you have tested all your stitch selections and have not found a blanket stitch, then your machine probably is not capable of doing one.

How do I set the blanket stitch on my machine?

If you have the owner's manual, it should show the blanket stitch among the stitch selections for your machine. FWIW, a lot of vintage machines do not have a blanket stitch available, so don't be disappointed if your machine does not have it.

Hi I'm new to sewing! Does my singer have a blanket stitch

Your machine is a beginner model with only 8 stitches. Looking at the photo of the machine, it does not appear to have a blanket stitch.

Singer 1507 Sewing Machine

Usually, only more advanced (and expensive) machines with more stitches will have the blanket stitch.

How to do blanket stitch

Usually, your machine would need to have a blanket stitch selection in order to perform a blanket stitch. If your machine does not offer that option, then you are probably out of luck unless it is a highly advanced computerized model that you can create your own stitch designs.

Can I sew a Blanket stitch with my Bernina 930 Record machine?

Once upon a time, a blanket stitch used to be a long wide zigzag stitch. If you are referring to an electronic stitch version that would look like the inverse of a blind-hem stitch, then no, this is not possible on the 930 record machine.
What is nowadays called a blanket stitch used for quilting applications requires the machine to stop feeding during the stitching cycle to allow for the single stitch to the left and then back again. An electronic step motor machine, common to all newer Bernina machines can do this and or similar functions. That being said, don't be thinking about getting rid of your 930. Better to get one of the newer units for occasional blanket stitching and keep the Swiss made 930. The Bernina 930 is a lifetime machine. Computers machines are not lifetime class machines by virtue of being computers. Electronics are short lived.

I have no manual for my Elna 1010 sewing machine. My question is how do I thread it and is there a blanket stitch on this machine. Thank you. Joan

There are several websites where manuals can be found:

http://www.tias.com/stores/relics/ has authorised reproductions of many Elna manuals for sale but not yours.

www.diplodocs.com is a free souce but no 1010 there.

www.sewingpartsonline.com is a great site too, and they have yours for sale $US15
link is
http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/instruction-manual-elna-1010.aspx

I don't know this model real well, but I'm guessing it is a front loading bobbin and bobbin case design maybe?? If so, you may well find that just looking at the instructions for any front loading bobbin machine will get you started,
try this link
http://www.sewusa.com/Threading_Diagrams/Threading_Pages/Elna_Sewing_machine_threading/Elna_225_threading_diagram.htm
These Elnitas 225, 244, 245 were front loading bobbin style but "made under licence" and sold by Elna. I think the 1010 may well be a similar design so see if these diagrams help get you under way.

Its always helpful to source the genuine manual if possible though so worth spending the money; manuals contain maintenance info as well as threading up, and different techniques and accessories usually.

Lastly, Blanket stitch. I presume you mean the big chunky stitch where you turn an edge over and it looks like a straight line with a diagonal stitch going to the folded edge at regular intervals like this.
tally_girl_77.jpg Some sewing machines do a similar "overcasting" stitch but it won't be big like you might want on polar fleece or a blanket edge. The commercial blanket stitch you see on blankets will be done by a special purpose industrial machine and it applies a single thread just as you would when doing a blanket stitch by hand. So look at the stitch selection dial on your machine and see if there is something resembling a blanket stitch but it usually would only be 4mm wide, the maximum your machine probably can stitch.

So if you want a genuine blanket stitch, its a needle and heavy thread hand job, there are instructions on how to do at www.sewing.about.com, link is http://sewing.about.com/od/beginner1/ss/blanketstitch.htm

I own a Brother Innovis 1500D machine and I wonder if this machine can do the blanket stitch?

On most brother machines there is a feature called my custom stitch. You can create any stitch there and save in a memory pocket for later use. I dont think the machine has a blanket stitch so its the only solution.
