Xerox Phaser 8550DP Printer Logo

My phaser 8550 seems stuck in brochure format.

The machine prints fine, except for a particular 4-page Adobe document which I want to print on standard 8.5x11" paper. The printer will only print this document sideways on half the page. The printer has hardly been used, but I bought it "used". It seems to work perfectly, other than this very frustrating problem!

I think I solved this - just by going, in Adobe Reader, to File -> Print -> Advanced, and selecting "Print As Image".
Seems to have solved the problem, but if you have another solution, please let me know!
[I can't see how to delete the "problem" I've posted on FixYa.com or I'd simply remove the posting].
    Thanks...

SOURCE: Xerox 8550 Printer Magenta ink not working.

You need to run the eliminate light stripes. it should be in the menu, under troubleshooting, print quality issues. you can run this up to 3 times. you want the run the basic light stripes, not the advanced. If after 3 times running this, you are still missing jets, your printhead is bad. If you are using aftermarket ink, media sciences might cover the repair, if not, the printhead costs as much as a new machine. about $650+labor.

SOURCE: Xerox Phaser 8550 Won't Print

I was having the same problem. Turns out the IP address in the printer was incorrect. Once I changed the IP address the printer works just fine through our network again. Find your IP address off your server and follow these steps:

1. Choose Info on display menu, press okay button
2. Choose Info pages, press okay
3. Configuration pages-printer info, press okay
4. IP address should read: Correct IP Address number should be displayed on screen.

If not follow these steps to change it:

1. Find printer setup on display menu, press okay
2. Go to connection setup-press okay
3. Network setup-press okay
4. TCP/IP setup-press okay
5. Auto should show as “Off”
6. TCP/IP should show as “On”
7. DHCP/Boot should show as “Off”

If any of these are not listed on display correctly press ok, reset to either On or Off and then enter correct IP address.

Press okay button and follow steps on display menu to exit back to main menu display screen.

SOURCE: PDF documents do not print completely on my Xerox Phaser 8500

I am having the same problem. Sometimes my Xerox Phaser 8500 prints a PDF or web page fine, and other times I get pages and pages of what looks like PostScript code. I thought I had installed the most recent printer drivers, We are using primarily Macs with OS 10.4 or 10.5. One recent change is that we connected the printer to an Airport Express using a USB cable, which is sweet when it works correctly....any ideas???

Our Xerox machine says controller error error 116-324

Someone printing a web page or a document with text/image that the machine does not recognise. Delete the job from the server or PC from where it is being forwarded to the machine then power on machine. If the job is stuck on the machine queue then power on and as soon as the print job appears in the queue on the machine you need to deleteit. May have to log in as admin.

Phaser 8550 with 08.045.43.42396 error

The error indicates something blocking the cap wipe assembly from going up and down.

Did you shut off the machine while it was warming up, or purging it self? If you did the printhead is probably stuck to the cap wipe assembly and need to be separated (gently) so that the cap wipe can move up and down.

The blurry prints are from oil on the encoder wheel, clean the encoder wheel and you will be fine.

Error code in Phaser 8550 window. ?:07,010.43:1362

The exact explanation per xerox is " The Printhead is stuck in the tilted position, and is not able to tile forward to the print position, due to problems.

This is usually caused by broken printhead restraints, of the machine got shut off in the middle of warming up, and the printhead is stuck to the cap wipe assembly.

Regardless the machines covers will have to be taken off to go any further.

Specific PDF Document/Specific Print Area Black Toner Not Fusing And Flakes Off

Without a doubt you have a problem with the fuser.
What that is caused from is buildup over time of ink on the heat roller. The teflon coating wears some and the ink sticks to the aluminum instead of pealing off onto the paper.
You then do not get enough heat or perssure to "fuse" the image into the paper.
Replacine the fuser will correct the problem.
